Review: I brought my 2003 Buick Regal in on August 20, 2013 to repair a dent on the rear drivers-side and passenger-side quarter panels of vehicle. The owner's brother, [redacted], asked for $600 for the repair and a $300 deposit with a promise the work would be done by Friday, August 23, 2013.

On Thursday, August 22 I called the shop and asked if my car would be ready on Friday. The man who answered the call recognized the car when I referred to it as “the white buick” and said that I should come by Friday around 10:00 AM to pick it up. I thanked him and felt great that the car was going to ready on schedule!

On Friday, August 23, I came into the shop and the car was not ready. It was still taped up in the paint shed and [redacted] said he needed more time. First he said to come by later that day than he changed the time to Saturday. [redacted] and [redacted] asked for the other $300 which I gave them and [redacted] noted the receipt of the cash on my estimate.

On Saturday, August 24, I returned to the shop around noon and [redacted] was still sanding down the car and asked that I return around 3:30 PM.

I returned at 4:00 PM and [redacted] was out in front of the shop drinking a beer out of a brown bag and told me that [redacted] had the car ready. [redacted] brought the car out and I looked it over. The dents were pulled out and the shape was restored nicely. However, I could tell something wasn't right. I looked around the car and inspected both sides of the car where work had been done. I saw immediately the paint in both areas was cloudy (image 01, image 03). The passenger side rear fender had rough areas (image 02). There was still tape on the fender (image 04). The door handle, which was not damaged prior, had been painted and the black rubber seal around the handle was white (image 05). The rear bumper, which was not originally damaged, had overspray on the black molding (image 09). Every area that was re-painted has an orange peel finish and is cloudy when you look into the finish. I mentioned the poor finish and the “cloudy” reflection to [redacted] who acknowledged the poor quality by offering to fix it next week once the paint is dry.

When I brought it home I noticed overspray in nearly every area in the rear of the car. There is overspray under the trunk lid (image 06), inside the wheel well (image 07), on the trim that ends in the wheel compartment (image 08), in each of the passenger doorframes (image 10), each of the wheels (image 11), on the rims (image 13. The driver door trim was loose and I discovered that the clips were not properly attached (image 12).

The interior of the car was a mess as well. Each of the doorframes showed white dust (image 15), the leather seats were covered with white dust (image 16) as well as the interior carpet (image 14). I immediately vacuumed the mess because my 2 year old and 5 month old would be riding in the car the next day.

On August 28, 2013 at 13:54, [redacted] (shop owner) called to confirm he'd received my letter of complaint with the photographs and

told me, in a angry and defensive tone, that I can return the car for repair but hung up before I could ask him about a rental car during the re-repair time.Desired Settlement: I would like Mission Valley Auto Restoration to pay for the damage on the car (over spray and cloudy painted surfaces) and pay to have the work re-done by the Buick dealership . A rental car must be provided by the dealership for the period of the repair. Estimated cost for the repair and rental $3,000 (I will accept $3,000 to settle the dispute).

Review: I took my 1995 BMW318ti for front bumper and hood repairs on 03/18/2013, Wenesday, after a fender bender accident. The owner of the shop shared with me that he would go ahead with the repairs that included replace the LF headlight assm, LF turn signal, paint to match & labor and material for the total of $800. I was told it would take a total of 3 days and the work would be complete 03/11/2013, Sunday. I left a deposite of $300 and it was agreed that the balance of $500 would be paid on the day of pickup. On the designated day of pickup, I called the shop and spoke to the shop-owner [redacted] and he indicated that my car was not done and it would take another 3 days and would be done on Wenesday, 03/13/2013. On this Wenesday I went to the shop to pick my car up and again was told my car was not done due to them having the wrong parts. At this time I indicated that I needed my car done ASAP and I would be willing to leave my car until 03/17/2013, Sunday. Additionally, the shop owner asked me to leave another $300 to help him out, which I did and had him sign my reciept indicating this money was paid. I did call Saturday, one day before my car was agreed to be complete and the shop owner gave me his word that all the work would be completely done the next day at 8pm.At 8 pm the next day, I went to retreive my car and was very disappointed upon arrival with my car not being complete, the new headlight and turn signal were installed, however not tightened down, the hood and bumper had primer on them and I was very dissappointed. At this time, the owner had left and I called AAA & indicated to the worker that I was going to have my car towed home and procede to find another shop to properlly do the repairs and finish the work. I later spoke to the shop owner and he agreed to pay me back $200 of the $600 I gave him. He asked me to come in today, 04/11/2013 and and I was told he would have my money, I went into his shop and he gave me more excuses with no $. Its time to go to court.Desired Settlement: I would like the $200 dollars that was promised to me or this matter will go to court and I will sue for:$600 for work not complete per contract/work order$900 to fix work done and complete paint job$30 court fee$60 transportation fee during this timeTot of $1590 if this goes to court.Best Regards,[redacted]
