Mission Valley Self Storage Reviews (2)

Review: I have received a call almost every month for the past 6 months from Mission Valley Storage for a [redacted] (sp?) who must rent a unit at this facility.

I have called them at least 3 times and sent a message twice to tell them they have the wrong phone # for this individual, but they keep calling my cell phone about her being past due in her rent.

I want them to stop calling me.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop calling me.

Response:

I am sorry that this person is getting past due calls from us. We are not showing a tenant with this name in our system. Could it be under a different name or spelling or perhaps could this be another self storage facility. We are Mission Valley Self Storage located at [redacted] San Diego CA 92120. I would like to get more information so we can make sure that we do not call the complainant anymore.

Thank You

I was able to find the tenant account that Norma Smith is complaining about. Her number was taken out of our system and she will not be getting any more calls from Mission Valley Self Storage.

Can you please pass this along to her.

Thank You,

Review: On December 15, 2013 I needed to rent a storage unit for a short time until I could secure a new apartment. Mission Valley Storage had a special rate of $55.00 for 3 months and that was fine with me, so I took it. I paid for the three months and have receipts to prove it. I also have a copy of their ledger proving I paid for the time I used the storage unit and had a balance of $0. I moved the last of my things out on March 14, 2013 and left the unit empty, clean, and open. I called them that day and told them I had moved out. The next month I received a bill in the mail for rent for $104.00 plus late charges of $30.00. I called them right away and they said they didn't know I moved out and I owed the money. The next month another bill with late charges. Then June 28, 2013, I received a letter stating they were going to sell my things at auction on July 11, 2013 and an additional charge of $150.00 added to all the past rent and late fees coming to a total of $668.55 I had nothing there. That balance has gone to a collection agency and they have been harassing since. Also this has gone on my credit report against me. I don't believe this is good business practice to ruin peoples credit for no reason.Desired Settlement: I would like the collection agency to leave me alone and remove this rediculous debt from my credit report.

I am writing a response to [redacted]’s complaint in regards to his storage unit at Mission Valley Self Storage. Mr. [redacted] was notified on numerous occasions and told that he needed to fill out a vacate notice:March 18: Mr. [redacted] called and notified Mission Valley Self Storage that he had moved out. He was told to fill out a vacate notice and he said he would be in that day to sign it. March 20: The manager called Mr. [redacted] to remind him to come in to fill out vacate notice. His contract cannot be cancelled without this vacate notice signed. He said OK and thanks for letting him know.As you can see from the account history that is attached to this e-mail, we have called, e-mailed and sent letters on numerous occasions to notify Mr. [redacted] of the status of his account. This e-mail is in response to your account of what happened concerning the storage unit I rented from you 12/15/12 until 3/14/13. I do not know what you were thinking. Not many successful business people react like you. What nonsense about a vacate notice instead of a simple phone call giving you notice that I had moved out, left the unit empty, clean, and paid in full for the time I was there. I even saw an employee, your office storage room is across from the unit, during my moving process and told them I was moving out. You did not contact me by phone and I did not get any mail from you until 6 weeks after my move informing me you doubled the rent and were adding late fees. Every time I receive a letter from you I contacted you reminding you I had left long before. This happened several times until I got threatening letters informing me that you were going to auction off the air I left in the unit further adding to this bill. I should have received a thank you card and a request to use your business in the future with a discount being a return customer or by refuring other people to your business. There are too many storage facilities in the San Diego area that treat people like valued customers. Your establishment certainly will not get a recommendation, but just the opposite. Stay far away from you!!!!!! Have a nice day. [redacted] ###-###-####

Mr [redacted],

We are sorry that you are not satified with the service you have received from Mission Valley Self Storage. Our Tenants and their belongings are our number one priority. However, we are very strict and security conscious when it comes to our rules and regulations. This is for our tenant's protection. You were asked on numerous occasions to sign a vacate notice and you did not. The contract that you signed clearly states that this required. Legally, this is a rule that cannot be compromised or broken.

Regards,
