Mississippi Ironworks Reviews (%countItem)

I had security doors installed on the back of my house in 2011. Within a few years, they started to rust. My wife made a couple of inquiries and was told that they would have a service person come look at them. Nobody ever came. My wife developed brain cancer in 2017 and died in August of 2019, so the issue was on the back burner. In October, I began attempting to get some help with the problem as the rusting is worse. Over the past few months, I have talked to numerous people, have sent pictures, repeatedly get calls wanting to sell me new doors, have been told that a service person would come look numerous times and nobody has ever come, have basically been told "what do you expect, the doors are 8 years old", have been told that the owner said that they don't make the paint for these doors anymore, have been told that it will cost $2900 to get the doors repainted, have been told that I may as well buy new doors for $6900, have been told that they got rid of an employee that was handling my problem because of "issues like this." Basically, I have been given the run-around and still with nobody actually even seeing with their own eyes what the problem is. I told that last lady I spoke to, who made a sales call trying to sell me new doors, that every time I see their commercial on television I want to vomit because I know what kind of business this really is.

We recently had Mississippi Iron Works install steel security doors and steel security window screens on our home. Mr. *** and all staff members of this company were extremely courteous and willing to help in any way to provide the services we needed. The installers were also very courteous and efficient, completing their work as scheduled. Our doors and windows are beautiful, presenting a definite enhanced curb appeal to our home. As lifetime residents of Mississippi, my wife and I would certainly recommend Mississippi Iron Works, knowing they have been in business for many years providing quality products and workmanship.

February 7:
• Three doors were installed
• Called Iron Works - could not lock the kitchen door, office was closed
• Called *** said it sounded like a pin was put in backwards.
February 8 and 9:
• Called Iron Works and told them I was still having problems with the doors.
• Told *** would come and fix the locks.
February 10:
• When admiring the beauty of the doors I noticed a gap in the kick plate of the door.
February 12:
• Once *** and I finished talking about the gap in the kitchen door, he decided to check the other doors for gaps and there are gaps in the living room door in three areas.
• As we talked about the doors, I notice rust on the patio door and pointed it out to ***; he took a picture of the rusted area and decided to check out the other doors and there was rust spots in the kitchen door.
• *** took pictures of the problems with the doors
• *** sent pictures to ***.
• *** said she would have *** come and put caulk in the doors on Wednesday, February 14th and have someone come out to paint the rust spots on Thursday February 16th. From my discussions with *** and ***, I understand that thee fixes would be temporary and would have to be done for the lifetime of the doors.
February 13:
• I called and asked to speak to Mr. and was told he was not in the office and I could leave a message with his administrative assistant. I got voice mail and I left a message, but I never heard back from anyone.
February 15:
• I called and asked to speak to Mr. and was told he was still out of the office.
• I sent picture of the doors to *** at this cell phone number and she acknowledged she received the pictures.

I would like my doors replaced with new doors that are not in need require repair work the day of installation.
March 18:
Water is getting into my home from underneath the doors, underneath the glass and the kick plates.

These doors have been a problem since they were installed.

Mississippi Iron Works prides itself on taking superior care of our clients, including those who are building new construction homes. We understand how stressful it is to build a new home: there are so many items to check off so many lists, with so many different vendors, as the many phases of home building takes place.

Often, when we install items at a new construction site, we are not able to complete some of the finishing touches because it would be an impediment to the construction happening around our installation. (For example: If we seal under the door and the flooring is not laid – our seal would not allow for proper flooring installation – Thinset mortar will not stick to silicone.)

When this is the case: we have a policy of communicating with the home owner and/or the builder to notify them of any items that need to be taken care of in order for our units to work properly. This happens all the time with silicone, trim, thresholds, etc. and the builder handles these details.

Every Lead Installer at Mississippi Iron Works is aware of this policy.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: Water is getting in my house when it rains from at the bottom of the doors, the kick plates and around the glasses. The kick plates and the glasses have nothing to do with the floors. The doors were rusted when installed and the kick plates had gaps when installed. These doors were installed on February 7, 2018 and the problems were noticed February 9, 2018. These are suppose to be brand new doors and they are in need of serious repairs; unless used doors were installed. They advertise the quality of their doors, but I feel it is false advertising, because I did not get quality doors. You have to jiggle the door knob get one of the doors open and turn it several times before it will open, this problem was discovered the same day of installation when I could not open the door nor could I lock the door. I was not given notification of all the problems the doors would have until I started experiencing the problems. With hurricane season upon us, I really don't feel comfortable with these doors. My family was on the way to a funeral and before we could leave the house we had to tape up and put plastic covers over the doors. I'm a 57 year old single woman and my home flooded in August 2016 and I have had many contractors take advantage of my situation, but I never thought I would be taken advantage of by this business. Shame of them for the doors they installed in my house; every time a see a commercial about their doors I get sick, because I did not get quality doors. I would like Iron works to install the quality doors they advertise and I paid for.

Regards

Regarding Complaint ***

Mississippi Ironworks has been in contact with Ms. on several occasions.

On Saturday, May 12, 2018, our technicians went to Ms. home to conduct a series of tests to identify any issues. Ms. and our customer service manager, ***, decided that we needed to send a different set of technicians out. They are working together to schedule that for this week.

Thank you.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and will allow time and the weather to find out if their solution of caulking the doors will work.

Regards

Excellent workmanship! Superb customer service. Even though I live hours from the company's corporate office and production facility, not once did a Rep complain about distance when it was necessary for one to return to my home to resolve a minor issue. Mr., in particular, was very kind, professional, and a very good teacher.
