Mister Plumber

Review: [redacted], owner of Mister Plumber, cleaned out the sewer line at my house several months ago. He was recommended to me by Hy-tech video services.Mr. [redacted] had called me to tell me that while he was cleaning the sewer line, the upstairs toilet overflowed, causing water to flow down into the foyer below, causing a significant amount of water to accumulate in the foyer and to wet the rug in the foyer.I said that I understood and hoped that his insurance would pay for any damages; he agreed that he would pay.Several days later, the tenants living at this house called me to tell me that they thought that I should come to look at the ceiling in the foyer, and wanted to let me know that it was not their doing that caused this damage. I then told the tenants that I knew it was not their fault and said that [redacted] had already told me that the toilet had overflowed while he was cleaning and flushing the lines. I later came to look at the ceiling in the foyer, and saw how the dry wall and paint had cracked in several places. The thought of having toilet water saturating the foyer ceiling was rather gross to me. I purchased the house on December 6th, 2013, and the tenants moved out Jan 6th, 2014. I then called Mr. [redacted] yesterday, and his wife answered. She recalled the incident but said that they would not take a bid from a contractor that I hired, but would hire their own people to fix it by removing the peeling paint and then painting over it. I told her that this would not satisfactorily repair the damage done to the ceiling. She yelled and would not let me get a word in edgewise.Later [redacted] called me and said that he recalled that the toilet water had overflowed, but that he would not pay for any damage since it was not his fault that the toilet overflowed, and hung up when I said that I would contact the Revdex.com.I e-mailed him a bid for the repair yesterday, but did not get a response from him or from his spouse. They have not answered my numerous calls or my e-mail.Desired Settlement: I would like the foyer ceiling repaired correctly to a satisfactory condition. It can be done by any honest, experienced contractor. The ceiling should be sanitized. Scraping off the old damaged paint and painting over the cracked ceiling as suggested by Mrs. [redacted] is unacceptable, considering that it was toilet water that saturated the foyer ceiling. Her proposal would neither sanitize the soiled sheetrock nor make the ceiling cosmetically pleasing.
