I am sorry this customer has dealt with a leak in her old waterline.  The customer fails, however, to mention the entire story and the reason we refuse to have any further dealings with her or her daughter.  I have sent numerous attachments to try to show the chain of events that has led...

up to this point and now I will explain our point of view.   This customer's daughter requested the work that is listed on the attached contract.  The customer then came in and signed the contract (that was in her name) in the name of her daughter.  The work commenced, when we had issues and questions, appointments were set to discuss the issues.  The daughter would not show up.  After the work was completed  we requested payment, a week later the customer made an appointment to make payment.  She never showed up.  Several days passed and we finally made contact with the customer to come in and pay and she submitted a check for the balance.  The very next day she called and started cussing us and telling us the yard looks horrible.  She wanted us to landscape and put all new gravel on her drive.  If we did not comply, she would cancel the check.  We informed her that the yard was just strawed and seeded and it needed time to settle with several rain storms, and as for her driveway, she was told not to drive over the water meter and the new trench and as you can see from the pictures, it was immediately driven over.  When we did not agree to her demands she immediately canceled the check.  As per our contract, there is no clause for any landscape or driveway work, we are plumbers, not landscapers.  We cover the ditch and seed and straw as a courtesy to our customers.   After the check was cancelled, we contacted the mother (whose name is on the contract).  She agreed we had done a good job and thought the yard looked good, she did not understand why her daughter was so angry, but would give no suggestions as to how to remedy the problem.  We could not contact the daughter.  Later we got recorded messages from the daughter's boyfriend, verbally threatening us and telling us not to contact the mother or daughter, that we would have to deal with him.  At this point, we sent a certified letter to the daughter (attached) trying to come to an agreement and giving her a credit of $400 to get someone to landscape her yard.  She never picked the letter up and it was returned to us.   After the threats and no response from the homeowner or her mother, we retained a lawyer.  Attached is his correspondence to the homeowner.  She ignored the first letter, but when the lawyer outlined the lawsuit, she sent in a check for the balance of the contract.   The date of the contract was one year ago, and the work was completed in a week.  We usually warrantee our work for a year, and we received our first call about the leak just prior to getting a letter from the Revdex.com.  Normally, we would help this customer with her problem, but due to the trouble we went through with them, the verbal threats from a "boyfriend" and the fact that we had to retain a lawyer and did not recoup the legal fees, we will not deal with this customer, the contract was void the minute she cancelled the check and we had to go the legal route.  We told her that on the phone, that she had to get another plumber.  We refuse to service anyone who has a third party threaten us.   Several of the neighbor's of this property voluntary said they would witness for us in court, if it came to that.  That our job was done in an extremely professional manner, that the yard looked great after it was strawed and since it was mowed.  I am sorry they had to deal with a leak, as there are always some issues on a job that large, but we refuse to do any business with them again due to their unbelievably uncivilized and threatening behavior.   [redacted] Mitchell Plumbing
