M&J Flooring & Property Maintenance Inc.

On the recommendation of Jeremiah Daniel Bailey (DBA M & J FLOORING & PROPERTY MAINTENANCE) mother I hired him to remove year old carpet in 3 bedrooms, replace with ceramic tile, and install a screen room onto the back of my house. He gave me an estimate, not written, for the labor and never suggested any prices for material. The tile work was ok but the one room had a pattern and the tile was different thickness and thus the floor is not even or level. He was here a couple days when he wanted an advance on the work so he could make his payroll. I trusted him as he had come so highly recommended, I had given him cash he requested for the tile $570.00 total, he then requested $600.00 for materials for the screen room over the course of May 12- June 21 he received in checks and cash $3,000.00, the work was not satisfactory and when I was unable to be at the residence the last day he was here, he gave me the final bill which I paid and he was gone when I returned, the work on the screen room was beyond belief, I called him immediately and told him he assured me he would make it right. The screen hadn't been properly installed, the door was disgusting and not fit for use, it has been on the curb lawn for almost a week with a free sign attached and on one even stopped. Finally Aug 13, after 2 no show appointments, he informed me he wasn't a screener. He had sold me 2 used doors that I hadn't seen before he finished the job, the one was totally unacceptable and unfit for use, can't even give it away, I hired an honest business man to redo the screen room, he totally rebuilt it and replaced the one door, his bill was less that M & J charged for labor alone ! I repeatedly asked for receipts and he finally told me the last day he was here that he didn't have to give them to me and I had to pay for him time and gas. I can only stress that this is not a reliable, honest person and if I can deter anyone from being taken advantage of I certainly will do that.
