Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: There was definitely a communication problem, but it was all on the side of MJD Firstly, the MJD supervisor on site is the one who approached me to bid on the finishing work, saying that it would cost 800-dollars, and that they held the permit, so that it would be difficult to hire someone else (This was not true as I discovered later) We agreed, and her gave us his card and said to call when we were closer to the finishing work We did call times trying to find out what was included and to get an exact estimate No one returned our calls and we were told by a receptionist that " [redacted] was on a hunting trip." We finally enlisted the building supervisor to call, and the next morning MJD workers showed up out of the blue to do the finishing work We still had no estimate or work order, and on that day were still painting, so we asked them to return the following week They did not return and again repeated calls were ignored Again the building supervisor intervened and a single worker appeared, who refused to install two vanity lights (which were later installed by another firm and passed inspection without a problem)He installed a few switches and left From then on the situation is described in the original complaint The only call I ever received from [redacted] was Thursday November 12, to say they were coming out to finish the work that day I stand by the original complaint because this was no one's fault but MJD for failing to provide an estimate or tell us the scope of the work or a work order We have no signed agreement with them, and were told 800-dollars for finished electrical work.Sincerely, [redacted] -***

They knew what was being asked of them, it was a simple jobVery disappointed at how they do business

You have not replied to the fact that we emailed a letter to you, so I have no idea whether you received it or not or whether the consumer is replying to our response.   Please clarify so we know how to proceed

Thank you!

In response to your letter ID [redacted] we would like to make it clear that our customers’ satisfaction with the work we perform for them is our utmost priority. With that being said, we feel there was so much miscommunication on the above mentioned job, that it was doomed.
When we were first...

given the Purchase Order by the Builder (HiLine Homes) for this job, the scope of work was to do the rough-in portion of the job only and the trimout portion was to be done by others or the homeowners themselves.  Somewhere in the interim, the Supervisor for the Builder and the homeowner conferred and decided to hire this company to do the trimout portion for a cost to the homeowner of approximately $1000.00.  When we do trimouts for the Builder, they include certain things and anything other than those items are extras.  We feel that the Supervisor overstepped their area of knowledge and did not make the homeowner aware of what was included in the scope of the work we were to complete as well as not making us aware of what the homeowner expected to be done.  We agree that there was miscommunication on the parts of all involved.
Also, when our crew went to do the work and install some light fixtures (that the homeowner was supplying), it was noted that some fixtures were broken, some had missing parts and some would not work with the hardware that was installed and to make them workable would cause sheetrock damage or not meet code, which our crew rightfully so, would not do.
In the matter of the mud on floors, we apologize for that and are embarrassed that any member or members of our crew would make such a mess and we have made them aware that there will be no tolerance of this in our company.
We have submitted an invoice to the homeowner in the amount of $1000.00 less a credit of $300.00 for some fixtures not being installed and the floor cleanup, plus sales tax.
Sincerely,
[redacted], President

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: There was definitely a communication problem, but it was all on the side of MJD.
Firstly, the MJD supervisor on site is the one who approached me to bid on the finishing work, saying that it would cost 800-900 dollars, and that they held the permit, so that it would be difficult to hire someone else.  (This was not true as I discovered later).  We agreed, and her gave us his card and said to call when we were closer to the finishing work.
We did call 10 times trying to find out what was included and to get an exact estimate.  No one returned our calls and we were told by a receptionist that "[redacted] was on a hunting trip."   We finally enlisted the building supervisor to call, and the next morning 2 MJD workers showed up out of the blue to do the finishing work.
We still had no estimate or work order, and on that day were still painting, so we asked them to return the following week.  They did not return and again repeated calls were ignored.
Again the building supervisor intervened and a single worker appeared, who refused to install two vanity lights (which were later installed by another firm and passed inspection without a problem). He installed a few switches and left.
From then on the situation is described in the original complaint.
The only call I ever received from [redacted] was Thursday November 12, to say they were coming out to finish the work that day.
I stand by the original complaint because this was no one's fault but MJD for failing to provide an estimate or tell us the scope of the work or a work order.  We have no signed agreement with them, and were told 800-900 dollars for finished electrical work.Sincerely,[redacted]
