Review: I ordered the portable tracking device. When received, it didn't work and had to be reprogrammed, right out of the box. Once working, the battery life was deplorable. The device barely lasted 24 hours, and that was with only 3 hours of motion, the remainder of the time on standby. I emailed the company's support and got and RMA number to return the device. I was not returning the device simply because I changed my mind or didn't like it. I returned the device because I had problems with it and it did not work well.When I purchased the unit, I got their special, in which I got the unit for $25 and a year of service for $239. With $8 shipping, my total came to $272. The company states a 15% restocking fee. I also did not expect to be refunded shipping, and to have to pay 1/12 of my service fee for the one month of service I had the device. Therefore I would expect my refund to be about $240 [272.00 - 8 (shipping) - 3.75 (restocking 25*.15) - 19.91 (service 239/12)].However, I am only receiving $206 for my refund. I called the company for an explanation. They are charging the 15% restocking fee on the full retail price of the device, which is $149. They are also charging the regular monthly price of monthly service, which is $34.99, instead of prorating it based on what I actually paid for the service. Therefore, they are overcharging me twice. It should also be noted that the person who processed the refund made a mistake and was initially taking the 15% on my total, not just the device, so my original refund was only $194. I would have been cheated even worse if I had not called to check.The [redacted] I spoke to said when you return it, they convert you to having paid full price for the device and regular price monthly service "to get you the maximum refund." While the [redacted] was not rude or mean, he did nothing to help other than correct his own mistake on the refund. He said I was offered an extended battery, which I was not when I complained and asked for an RMA.Desired Settlement: I would be content if I received an appropriate refund of $240 as stated in the complaint. However, since I had problems with the device and the refund was handled so poorly, I don't think asking for a full refund at this point is unreasonable. I returned the item as soon as I was able to determine it was not dependable. It was not truly "used", only tested. It didn't come in a package, only the padded shipping envelope, so it was not "opened".
