Review: I took a Viking 6440 to the Vac & Sew Shop, [redacted], Hamilton for routine servicing and tension adjustment. The repairman called and told me the buttonholer was locked up and would only sew in reverse and there would be an additional charge to fix it. I didnt understand how the buttonholer could have become locked, since it had been working fine, but I told him to go ahead, so he repaired the machine.When I got the machine home and tried it, the tension was still not right, the back cover plate was not screwed on, the buttonholer did not work at all, and the needle was no longer centered, so I returned to the shop. The repairman said hed take a look at it.After several weeks I had not heard from him so I called. He told me the buttonholer was locked up and couldnt be fixed and that was causing the needle to be off center. I told him that he had done this; that the machine was working when I brought it in for servicing. He told me that I had brought in a broken machine with a locked buttonholer that could not be fixed. I told him that was not true; I had brought in the machine for a simple servicing and that he had broken my machine and I wanted a refund. I was told to come get the machine.When I picked up the machine, it was handed to me in pieces. When I asked for a refund I was told I could not get one. I now have an unworking machine that is in pieces and I am out $140.00 plus the additional cost of taking the machine to another repairman to put it back together and determine if it can even be repaired at this point. This is not a very good way to do business.Desired Settlement: I need to be reimbursed for ALL repair costs; that includes the original "repair" cost and the cost of having the machine put back together by another repair service. If the machine cannot be repaired I also will need replacement cost.
