In regards to Mr.*** complaint# *** about his Mustang repairs; The customer was not over-charged for anythingWe simply kept track of the actual time the technician had working on the customer's vehicle, and charged for that labor timeThe customer also never requested an estimate of
any kind at any point prior to or during our diagnosis or repairsWe simply performed the work asked for by the customer, and in doing so resolved some of his problems and diagnosed the remainder of the problemsSee text of customer requested work which was listed on the repair order: "Diagnose going lean under load on dyno (customer suspect's 2nd fuel pump problem?)Fuel pressure suddenly drops to psi at about rpm under boostRemove fuel tank, inspect pumps, hoses etc(see PPRV delete info provided by customer)." As this is a show car and in extremely nice condition, extra time and care was required to remove the exhaust system to gain access to the fuel tankWe removed the fuel tank, removed the fuel pumps from the tank, and inspected systemFound a kinked hose and loose hose clamps on the PPRV delete installation done by another shopWe then located a correct high-quality flexible hose (similar to the factory hose) along with high quality crimp clamps and installed those partsAt that time we decided to lab-scope test the current waveform of the fuel pumps (see customers notes that he suspects the second pump is bad) to make sure both pumps were goodTo perform the testing we disconnected one pump at a time and ran that pump under full fuel pressure while watching the current waveform on a lab-scope to see if there were any drop outs, high current draws, etcBoth pumps tested good, so we reused and reinstalled themWe then reassembled the pumps into the tank and replaced the fuel filler neck seal (which is a one-time use item that gets damaged each time the tank is removed)We also elected to replace the fuel filter because the filter was easy to access while the tank and exhaust were out of the vehicle, and the customer has been having fuel restriction problems and a plugged or restricted filter could cause such a problemWe then reinstalled the fuel tank and the exhaust systemThe fuel level in the fuel tank was very low when the customer dropped the vehicle off which is why he supplied the octane booster for us to add into the tank when we refilled the tank after our repairsWe added "clear super'' gasoline, which is the type that does not have any ethanol in itIt is more expensive than standard "super'' gas, but much better for the vehicle in a high-performance applicationWe then lab-scope tested the voltage readings into and out of the Kenne Bell boost-a-pump controller to make sure the fuel pumps were receiving the proper voltage because low voltage will also cause low fuel pressure problemsWe found correct battery voltage going into the controller, but only -volts coming outThe controller is supposed to raise the voltage above battery voltage and by doing so it will spin the fuel pump faster which creates more fuel volume as needed in a high performance application such as thisWe then advised the customer that the controller was bad, and that a new one will need to be installedHe then came and picked up the vehicleRegarding the Ford dealers employee's (*** *** from *** ***) comments: if their service department does not know what a lab-scope is or how to use one to diagnose electrical issues properly, that does not mean something is "a scam" as he saysI explained it over the phone when he called me as to what we did and what we foundWe even took cell phone pictures of the lab-scope screen to show the current waveform looked goodThe Ford dealer needs to send their technicians to some classes to show them how to use a lab-scope and what one is capable of doingAny good automotive repair facility has one of these pieces of equipment in their shop and uses them frequentlyThey could even do a Google search to find out how to use oneIn conclusion, if this customer had such a problem with our repairs, why did he not say anything when he was here picking up his car? Why did he wait 2-1/months and then send a letter to the Revdex.com? It just does not make any senseNo, we will not refund the customers money as we did all of the repairs asked of us by the customer, found the problem(s),and got the vehicle fixed properly

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I didn't ask them to add fuel to the car the octane booster was for me to add to the fuel after they were done. I was going to fill it. I knew they needed the tank 1/4 full to make easier to remove. Also they should have asked about replacing the fuel filter since I had just put a new one in recently. Thirdly misdiagnosed the boost a pump voltages which there results are not what I found. They should have gave an estimate of charges if I new there rates were double what Ford charges I wouldn't have had th do the work. And I waited so long to file because I filed the complaint to the wrong business about two months earlier! Sincerely,[redacted]
