A per our conversation today, I would like to inform Revdex.com NYC that this customer complaint is not relevant! [redacted] was quoted all his co-payments prior to any services were rendered by email and verbally and he was not charged a higher rate! Also, [redacted] received all his bills for services and I received several phone calls from Aflac insurance to get his bills paid! [redacted] stated that I was abusive over the phone when HE threatened me and cursed me outI was very upset and was afraid because of the threats so I called and there is a police report ! I was due a refund for services that I paid out of pocket for but was covered under my insuranceI let Modern Dentistry know March/April about the refund and they said they would submit a claimBy June I asked again because I didn't receive my refund and they said they never did it and would submit it againThey cashed the check from my insurance company on July 3, I started calling almost every day at the end of July I've been getting the run aroundThey keep saying they don't knowThis is ridiculous and violate the integrity of the practiceI told them I was moving and didn't have an address to forward check to when they mail itI let them know I was moving in JuneIt's almost SeptemberI'm never going to get my refundThey got paid twice for one service

This sent them into a panic & they called me with 180 degree turn in attitude. They couldn't return the money fast enough. Review: I chose this dentist because of a coupon that I had. It was for a cleaning, examination, xrays, and a professional take home whitening kit. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment, 7 50 a.m. I met with the dentist and she explained that they were very laid back in the office and even gave me a card for my key chain that offered free whitening for LIFE. I was placed in the exam room and a technician began to take xrays. It was clear that this young lady was new and did not have any idea what she was doing. She took at least 20 xrays of my teeth and the process took almost 30 minutes. In between the laughter and pauses from the dentist and others inside the office my cleaning finally began. The dentist cleaned my teeth which has NEVER happened to me. A hygienist has always cleaned my teeth. She flicked and picked around in my mouth for about 15 minutes if that long. Then she said, Ok I'm finished. I said "youre finished???" I've had my teeth cleaned alot and I KNEW she had NOT cleaned my teeth properly. She said yes and told the lady that had taken the xrays to finish up with me. This woman polished my teeth and smeared something on my teeth that she called fluoride and said dont eat for 30 minutes, this stuff will dissolve with the saliva in your mouth within the hour. Well it took that crap 12 hours to come off my teeth! My appointment was at 8 am and I didnt leave the office til 9 45am. I had to get a note for my job because I knew I was going to be late. My teeth are in excellent condition. I have one molar at the back of my mouth that needs filling. Because of this molar they did NOT give me the whitening kit I paid for. When I got home and looked in my mouth I could clearly see that my teeth needed to be recleaned. I went back 8 days later and got them cleaned again. But this time the HYGIENIST cleaned my teeth. It took her another 45 minutes to do the job correctly. I went there twice and still didnt get my kit. This dentist is a farce and the coupon is only a lure.Desired Settlement: I want the whitening kit that I paid for.The ludicrous reason they gave me about that one tooth at the back of my head was just an excuse to get me back in the door. This dentist didnt even have the skills necessary to clean my teeth properly, do you really think I'd allow her back in my mouth to do a procedure that could potentially cause me a lifetime of pain?? I think not! She's so "laid back" that she cant even do a good job. I wonder how many others were robbed of their kits?

We remember this patientfairly well and we remember her as a warm, pleasant, considerate and a very smart individual. We are quite surprised with her Revdex.com complaint as she left the dental office as though she understood everything that we told her. From our understanding, there are four things that she is complaining about. [1] dentist was "laid back", [2] she did not get a proper cleaning, [3] she doesn't want to do dental treatment of her broken molar with dentist and [4] she wants her whitening trays. We will address each of these complaints.

[1] Dentist was "laid back". The reason the dentist chose these words was because most of the time, patients complaint about the dentist being aggressive and getting an aggressive treatment done. Our system in this office is to serve as a guide for the patients to know what is going on in their oral cavity and to let patients practice autonomy to decide which treatment plan they are willing to forgo. We didn't know that for her she would misconstrue this for something else.

[2] She did not get a proper cleaning. She needed more than just a regular cleaning; however, we still apologized as she came in for her second appointment and we had our hygienist completely take care of her and completely removed all the tartar build up that she had. She was satisfied with this cleaning. We did not charge her for this appointment whatsoever.

[3] She doesn't want to do dental treatment with a "laid back" dentist. I believe she should have told our office and we can cater to her by sending her all her xrays and she can go to another dentist to be treated. She did not ask for her xrays or express and concern of seeing her dentist.

[4] She wants her whitening trays. I believe this is the main reason why she wrote this complaint. She bought a coupon for $** that included Free Exam and Xrays, Cleaning and Take-Home Teeth Whitening Treatment. However, the fine print says that "dental work required prior to whitening". This fine print is available on the website BEFORE you buy the coupon. We are not misleading patients. Our office staff showed this to her and still insisted on getting the whitening trays. She complained of sensitivity in her mouth due to a broken molar on her lower left. If we provide her with the whitening material without fixing this broken molar, she will be more sensitive and her tooth will continue to break down even more due to the abrasiveness and acidity of the whitening material. In the Dental Profession, it is an act of carelessness to proceed to give a patient something cosmetic without taking care of an active infection/decay in her mouth. We uphold to be an ethical office and we believe that she understands this. We have explained this to her twice (at least) and she looked like she understood it. We can not in any way morally, ethically or in good conscience provide a patient with something that will cause her more harm than when she walked in our office. It is a standard of care. I suggest Revdex.com to ask ANY dentist to confirm this fact.

We will gladly refund her $** even though she was provided with all but one treatment on the coupon. That one treatment (whitening treatment) that was not provided had a disclaimer that is stated on the website before any customer can purchase the coupon. The whitening treatment was not provided because she still has active decay in her mouth. We serve to protect our patients and their well being as we do not want to cause harm to them.
