I am rejecting this response because: We placed this order in May of This is the same excuse he has given each time he has been asked where our order isThe first he didn't have all of it and would send what he had, in November it was vacation and he would send it out before he left, then after a month it was he had medical issues and it would be sent out the end of DecemberThen after we filed the complaint on January 5th, he didn't respond until January 21st saying he would send it out next week This is unacceptable by a business to take our money and greatly cash the check within a couple days of receiving it but not send the items we paid forSo to me he stole our money and I do not believe we will see a refund our the items we paid for

Modern Exterminating charged me $140 for a man to come out to my home for 15 minutes. Their employee didn't even treat my home for termites.Modern Exterminating sent me a termite renewal notice. I set up an appointment with them to treat my home for termites. When their employee showed up at my home he walked around my house for 10 minutes. He didn't treat the outside of my home for termites and on top of this Modern Exterminating still charged me $140. Modern Exterminating is taking advantage of the military and older people in my neighborhood by promising to provide a termite treatment and then not providing the treatment. This company is a SCAM and you should not do business with them. Again, the company assured me they were going to treat my home and they did not do what they promised. $140 for ten minutes....SCAM!Desired SettlementI do not mind paying the technician a reasonable price for coming out to my home but NOT $140 for walking around my house for 10 minutes. A termite technician does not make $140 for ten minutes of walking.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@modernexterminating.comModern Exterminating Co. treated a customers house for termites on 8/29/13, while it was under construction. The treatment comes with a one year warranty. After the first year we offer our customers the option of renewing the warranty for another year for a fee of $128.00, per year, not the $140.00 the customer has stated in his complaint. We sent this customer a notice like we do all our customers, offering the option of renewing the warranty for another year. The customer called our office to make an appt to have the inspection scheduled to renew for another year. Our technician was there to make the inspection on March 5, 2015, which took much longer than 10 minutes. The customer was under the inpression that we were suppose to spray and make the inspection. We tried to explain to him that we can not legally treat his house, again, so soon, for termites without some cause to do the treatment such as, finding active termites, disturbing the soil around the foundation area or it has been over 5 yrs since the last treatment. The customer called March 6, 2015 to pay his bill the very next day after the inspection. The customer told our Office Manager that we were running a scam and he was going to report us to the Revdex.com and he was going to let everyone in his community know what we are doing and that he was on the HOA board where he lives. I have tried several times to call the customer, at the number we have on file. to speak to him and explain the $128.00 fee that is due for our inspections, Plus, a years protection on the house against infestation of subterranean termites and any termite damage that may occur. If any customer thinks that they have a termite problem at any time during the year warranty, we go back, at no charge to the customer, to make sure everything is okay. Subterranean Termites cause over 5 Billion Dollars a year in damages in the United States each year and we live in one of the heaviest areas for subterranean termites in the United States. Having a Subterranean Termite Termite Damage Warranty on a home in Eastern North Carolina is very important, just like homeowners insurance. We go out each year to make an Annual Termite Inspection on homes to see if we can find the start of any termites before it can become a problem but subterranean termites can be difficult to find sometimes. This is why a home needs termite protection so it does not cost the homeowner anything but the cost of the annual renewal. We will continue to try to contact this customer and we are sending him a letter explaining the coverage on his home. If the customer is still not happy with what we did and the coverage we give him, we will refund him his $128.00 that he paid but there will be NO termite protection on him home. Modern Exterminating Company has been in business for 64 years and we try hard to make our customers happy by taking care of their termite needs. If you should need for us to do anything else in this matter, please feel free to contact us or give us a call at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

I have a Termite contract with Modern Exterminating. When I received it I had a clean WDIR, now that I go to sell there are 9 major items. Shady.Commonly referred to as a "Termite Certificate", a W.D.I.R is an inspection performed by a licensed termite professional to determine if a property has any indication of wood destroying insects that may have caused damages or compromised the value of the structure. Wood destroying insects are not limited to just termites. Other insects may include powder post beetles, wood boring type insects, carpenter ants, and in some states wood destroying organisms (WDO) are additional damaging variables. I had a no items on my inspection when I bought the house, roughly 4 years ago, and now there are nine major issues. I get inspected every year and I have never lapsed in my payment. Instead of taking responsibility for damages, the company says too bad. The owner was consulted and is aware of this issue and is not taking action. I have been cheated and scammed.Desired SettlementI paid for their protection and that's what I expected. Repair all items listed on the new WDIR report.Business Response /[redacted]/This is in response to a complaint our Company received regarding a WDIR request for Case #XXXXXXXX. Modern Exterminating currently carries a termite damage Warranty on this property, which covers termite damage only. It does not cover general maintenance repairs such as decayed wood caused from moisture. We issued a WDIR in November 2009, which was a clear report at that time. When we went out to the property on 10/31/15, the home inspector had been there before we got there. The home inspector had probed in several areas to indicate minor moisture decay problems. We had indicated in the 2014 annual inspection there were signs of moisture in a band under the single back door. When we see moisture issues around window or doors, we try to point it out to our customers, but we do not probe into these area like a home inspector would. We are required to report moisture issues on the WDIR and because it was obvious from the home inspector's inspection, we need to report it on the WDIR. I called the customer 11/4/15 about this issue and explained to him the reason why it had to be on the report, but he was not happy that he is required to fix these issues. He said we should have found these problems during our annual inspection. I tried to explain to him we do not probe around the doors and windows, that we are concerned mostly about the underside of the house where termites may be found. And that the 2014 inspection did indicate moisture on the band underside of the single back door. This is also on the WDIR. The customer did call the realtor to tell her to have the repairs taken care of. This house is approximately 40 years old and it is not unusual to find minor moisture problems like this. We are truly sorry to cause this customer any problems in the closing of this house, but we are doing the job as it should be done. If you should have any questions, please feel free to give me a call. Truly, [redacted] PresidentConsumer Response /[redacted]/1. Clear WDIR in November 2009. 2. The home inspector had been there before we got there. / What home inspector? I didn't hire a home inspector. If there was someone there who was he and was he licensed? You took a strangers comments about possible damage and then reported it. Malpractice?3. When we see moisture we TRY to point it out, but we do not probe like a home inspector. / Try to point it out. Really? Either you do or you don't. Is it or isn't it required? Who is this mysterious home inspector?4. We do not probe around the doors and windows, that we are concerned mostly about the underside of the house. / We do not but we are concerned MOSTLY.5. This house is approximately 40 years old and it is not unusual. / Wow, that explains it, that must have been the problem.6. To top things off is that this, sorta, maybe, kind-of, wasn't my fault, response came from the President of the company. This is a true example of what to expect from local businesses in this area. It's a shame and has been one over the last twenty years I have been in and out of the area. Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Modern Exterminating had spoke to a strange person near my house, that told them to put eight major items (that had to do with moisture not bugs), on a WDIR Inspection report. Blindly they did put this wandering strangers opinion down on paper. The president of the Company admits in his response that he does not know who this person was. This cost me $1600 in repairs that if caught by a Home Inspector would otherwise have been negotiated with the purchaser of this property. Items that they admit, would most likely not have been noted. This action alone should revoke their license and ability to conduct this inspection. This is the same inspection I had been receiving from this Company for the past 4 years. This Company is shady and incompetent. I would have walked away from this complaint if someone from the company would have admitted they messed up a little. Just read their Company's Presidents comments and it should speak for its self.Final Business Response /[redacted]/I see the "Consumer's Desired Resolution" is for Modern Exterminating to repair all items found during the inspection for the new WDIR report. This customer has a subterranean termite Damage Warranty on this house, which covers termite damage. It does not cover maintenance repairs needed caused by moisture, and all of these problems with this home are due to moisture. If this customer wants to know who the Home Inspector is, and, if he has a license, I would suggest he consult his Realtor to get these answers and a copy of that report.Again, we are truly sorry to cause this customer any problems in the closing of this home, but, again, Modern Exterminating is doing the job as it should be done. Respectfully submitted,[redacted]President
