Review: They installed an aluminum fence around my pool last June and it's perfect except they did not cut the bluestone around the two gate posts. They told me they'd be back out in a couple weeks when their saw was fixed. In addition, they were also supposed to re-install a previously installed vinyl fence post which was part of the overall job. The post was installed at the wrong height so my fence is now at an angle and the gate doesn't shut properly.I informed them of both issues and was told they'd be back in a few weeks to month. That was the last I've heard from them and numerous calls to both [redacted] cell phone and the office have been unreturned.Desired Settlement: I want the two pieces of bluestone cut and notched around the gate posts and the vinyl post replaced or re-installed at the proper height.

Review: In August of 2014, I had Modern Fence install a privacy fence and double gate. After installation, due to the gate sagging and a piece of material failing to remain in place, I was told by the owner he would have someone fix it in the spring as this was occurring in the fall. My calls and emails have gone unanswered and I then went to the business. There is a hand-written sign on the business door stating the owner passed away and they are no longer conducting business. I have had to have another company come out and repair/replace the improper gate area. The new company informed me that it was done incorrectly.Desired Settlement: It is costing me $1,600.00 to repair & complete this job. I wish to be compensated.

Review: I contracted with [redacted] owner of Modern Fence in Terryville, CT on August 9th to install a new fence on my property. He explained the fence would be ordered and installed within 3 weeks. Gave $1800 check as down payment, with balance of $2000 to be paid upon job completion. [redacted] immediately cashed my $1800 check on 8/9. After multiple attempts at contacting him including voicemail messages to his cell phone and business phone, plus emails to his business, he has not returned my messages. My final message to him was that we were not interested in doing business with him since he has been entirely unresponsive, and his commitments have not been kept. We requested that our down payment be promptly returned. Still no response. This has been an outrageous experience. This guy has $1800 of my money, and I still have no fence.Desired Settlement: Refund of $1800 immediately.

Review: Complaint regarding Modern Fence in Terryville, CT:On May 10, 2013, [redacted], owner of Modern Fence, was given a check for $1,500.00 towards the $2,900.00 to install a bronze colored, aluminum fence in my yard. After waiting a month, I started making calls and [redacted] was not returning any calls or responding to the message on the website. I have a list (from [redacted]) of more than a dozen unanswered calls from June through August of 2013. On August 3, 2013, I was driving by Modern Fence on my way to [redacted]. When I saw [redacted] in the yard, I pulled in. He knew my name. I asked why he wasn't returning my calls. He said he was visiting in daughter in [redacted] for 2 weeks. I told him that it was more that 3 months, going on 4 months, and I needed my fence or a refund, if he could not do the job. He said he would install the fence "next Saturday." On August 10th, I stayed home and waited. [redacted]/Modern Fence never came to install the fence. I called and [redacted] never answered or returned my calls.On August 14, 2013, I asked Attorney [redacted] of [redacted], CT to write a letter to [redacted] and Modern Fence, asking for a refund within 7 days. [redacted] never called or paid the refund. I brought all the information to the Police Department in [redacted]. The officer said he would call Modern Fence. The other officer on duty said [redacted] strung him along for a year, and then he went to another company. Since reading information and talking to neighbors, [redacted] of Modern Fence does not stand by his workmanship and there are other unsatisfied customers noted on his website and on line. I am asking for a refund of $1,5000.00 that I paid. I have the signed receipt for this deposit and the cancelled check.

I would like a refund of the $1,500.00 deposit that I paid for the fence. I have the signed receipt for the deposit (signed by [redacted]) and proof that the check was cashed immediately after it was given to [redacted] of Modern Fence.

Review: My wife and I purchased a fence from Modern Fence on 9/16/12. It was a special order and we were told that it would take a little while to be made and delivered by the manufacturer. Once it came in, Modern was unable to install it as the owner said he had to help his brother who was impacted by storm Sandy. So we all agreed to wait till spring to have it installed. We have a signed contract and gave Mr [redacted] a $3400 deposit. Spring arrived and no contact from Modern Fence or Mr [redacted]. We have called and left over a dozen messages over the past month on the business's phone line, website, and Mr [redacted]'s cell phone. We have yet to receive a response.

Review: I agreed on a price with [redacted], the owner of Modern Fence in Terryville, CT. to install 33 sections of Beige Vinyl Fence surrounding my property. On September 19th 2013 when his workers were nearly finished installation, (minus 1 section which they were short),I was instructed by [redacted] to make out the check in his name and informed me that he should receive the missing section in 2 to 3 days and would return to finish the job and that he would give me a copy of the invoice at that time. I checked with my bank the following day and saw that [redacted] had immediately cashed the check as he had left his workers early that day and must have gone straight to the bank. I have not been able to speak with [redacted] since as he does not answer his cell phone nor his office phone and ignores all my messages I have left since inquiring when he would finish the job and to remove the cement that I had discovered was disposed of in the forest across the street from my residence. To date I have yet to receive a copy of the invoice from him. He did however finish installing the last section of fence after I informed him that I would file a complaint with Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: At best I would like to receive some documentation/invoice and warranty for the fence installed and that I had paid so much for, $7,500.00 to be exact.

Review: On 4/20/2012, we contracted with Modern Fence to put up 300 feet of vinyl fencing around our property. We gave [redacted] a check for $3200.00 as a down payment. This money was to purchase the materials needed to start the job. The rest of the payment would be given when work was completed. April 20, 2012 was the last we saw [redacted]. After many months of trying to contact Modern Fence, by phone, by e-mail, by visits to [redacted]'s business location at [redacted], and by cellphone calls, all of which were unanswered, we decided to take action through the Small Claims Court System to retrieve our money back.After he failed to show up on the first court date (but he asked for a new date in a note to the Court), he failed to show up again on the rescheduled date. In his absence, we won a judgement against Modern Fence and [redacted]. We filed three separate executions to try to get our money back, but have not succeeded. He has no property or bank accounts in his or his business' name.He has ignored us, the Judicial System, the Judge and the people of the State of Connecticut. He is a bad person to do business with, and he's a thief. I feel that it is necessary to let people know about this man and his fraudulent business practices. Do not give this man your time nor your hard-earned money!There have been other complaints listed against Modern Fence at the Revdex.com Web site. Don't become another victim!Desired Settlement: We want our $3686.41 refunded to us. This amount includes the original $3200.00, and the added cost for us to have papers served against Modern Fence and [redacted].
