I [redacted], am rejecting this response because the garage is failing to recognize that the tow was not completed  within the quoted price of $349.00 for 1 hour of service because their driver was stopped for not properly towing my truck because he did not have the required by law safety chains attached to my truck.  I have the out of service sticker that was put on his truck even though he still towed my truck in without  the safety chains.  I have been a trucker for many years so I KNOW how they are used.  While I was at your garage another worker hurriedly brought out safety chains and put them on tow truck while he was unhooking mine.  The garage driver admitted to me that he stopped for coffee and this is where he was ticketed by CT. DMV. COMMERCIAL  VEHICLES DIVISON, MOTOR CARRIERS SAFETY ASSISTANCE.   I DO HAVE the number for that CT citation.  I should not have to pay for this delay in time that the driver caused.  The service that you provided should not include your driver being stopped  and taking a break when he should have been bringing the truck to your garage on my dime. I feel like he changed the price to be compensated for his ticket.  From $349.00  to $691.00 IS a BIG PILL to swallow.  I also asked to speak to someone in charge and  was told their was no one there to talk to concerning this.  They also could not tell me who took my call when I called that morning and got the original quote.  It would not take 2 hours to get to that garage.  One hour was plenty time for pick-up and delivery from where it was towed.  When I looked up hourly charges I DID NOT SEE ANYWHERE,  that I was suppose to pay for breaks and delays for tickets.

This response is in regards to the complaint received from [redacted] about the towing charges for his 2010 International Tractor. Modern...

Garage was dispatched by the Hartford Police Department to tow Mr. [redacted]'s tractor because it was in violation of a city-wide parking ban due to the snow storm. Heavy duty wrecker service is mandated by Connecticut state law to be billed hourly at a rate of $325 per hour from dispatch to completion. In this case, the customer was only billed for the time it took to perform the service, which included unlocking the unit, winching the unit out of the snow, and towing the unit to Modern Garage. We were dispatched at 6:35am by the Hartford Police Department the tow was complete at approximately 8:40am. Mr. [redacted] was not billed any additional time for the tow. As far as the $349 Mr. [redacted] was quoted, that is the minimum charge for a heavy duty wrecker call. $325.00 for one hour of service, $4.00 fuel surcharge, and $20.89 CT State Sales Tax (6.35%).

Review: ON FEB.19,2014 MY COMPANY TRUCK WAS TOWED. WHEN WE CONTACTED MODERN, THEY SAID IT WAS $349.OO.GOT THERE AND THE COMPANY CHARGED ME $691.53. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOLD ME HE WAS STOPPED BY DMV FOR NOT PROPERLY TOWING MY TRUCK BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE SAFETY CHAINS ON. THE COMPANY CHARGED ME A EXTRA HOUR BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS PULLED OVER AND PUT OUT OF SERVICE EVEN THO HE STILL SOMEHOW GOT THE TRUCK BACK TO MODERN GARAGE BUT LATE. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR HIM COMING LATE BECAUSE HE WAS STOPPED BY DMV. I ALSO HAVE THE OUT OF SERVICE STICKER AND TICKET #.Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE TO BE REFUNDED FOR $342.00. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL QUOTE OF $349.00 AND $691.00.
