F- RUDE PEOPLE (***) ESPECIALLY - OVERCHARGED - UNTIMELY - SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS - RIP OFF ARTISTS AND CONSUMERS SHOULD BE AWARE!

Not much to say except stay away! Pricing is very competitive but the treatment of customers by management and owner is deplorable. Spent a total of close to $4k to have a new tankless hot water heater installed. Initial tech that arrived didn't bother to inspect the preferred location of placement of heater, so had to go with an outside unit. Charges for labor and materials was well north of $1200 for a few gas pipes and flex pipe. Went without hot water for close to a week due to electrician contracted by plumbing company being a no show, office manager and owner said it wasn't their problem. I was then told that water lines were installed incorrectly during construction of home further causing a delay to the job. This turned out to be false and the installation of the new gas line running to heater caused additional delay, huh I thought I was paying for a professional otherwise I would have done it myself, be advised that this is what the tech told me while on sight. Needless to say we were quite distraught due to having to rely on my elderly parents to allow us to shower and inconvenience their routine to utilize facilities in their home costing them money and hassle. When I called to discuss what the companies plan b was to get us up temporarily until electrician arrived, I received a text from office manager telling technician "this guy is b[redacted] again, please return to work site." Imagine that a paying customer calling to see when I would have services promised. Plumbing company attempted to get us up temporarily by installing an extension cord to power heater, REALLY?. Turns out the gas line was installed improperly by this company, again I thought I was paying a professional company to install. Finally, on day 5 the electrician showed up to hardwire the heater so that my family would have hot water. So I did what any normal, rational paying customer would do for their inconvenience, I called an asked to see what type of discount I could work out for the problems that were numerous as mentioned above. Owner called me and told me that none of this was his companies fault or problem. I explained that this was "tough [redacted]" and it was his responsibility, considering the fact that I was spending close to $4k with his company. Lets just say that this was the worst experience I ever encountered when trying to discuss a problem with an owner of a company. Verbal abuse and threats too numerous to count. He even said that I was using extortion to seek a discount, LOL yeah OK. Would you truly want to honor a contract after giving your credit card when being so poorly talked to and treated? To be fair I will say that the techs I talked to were very courteous and friendly and did what they could to resolve the situation, its the lack of any management understanding and customer service that advises any well educated consumer to STAY FAR AWAY FROM someone like this!!!

Will advise any friends and associates to never use this company!

Charged home warranty company and up sold consumerBEWARE! This company used to be Triangle Backflow! They recently changed their name and I am guessing because they have 14 complaints listed under the Revdex.com already....soon to be 15! I used them because home warranty company, [redacted] recommended them to replace my recirculating pump. They up sold me by telling me that it had to replace 2 check valves with the pump as that was the only way they would install the recirculating pump and it would cost an additional fee of . The home warranty company only covered the recirculating pump. I had to pay out of pocket for the 2 check valves. Three months after installation the recirculating pump had to be replaced by another plumbing company and we found out it was not only hooked up wrong but that the supposed separate check valves required were not separate at all and actually built into the pump itself. Therefore this company committed fraud! They charged both the home warranty company as well as myself for check valves that were actually built in the recirculating pump! Of course this is something as a consumer you would not ever know unless you had to have replaced like I did. We have brought this matter to Triangle Backflow/Modern Plumbings attention providing them with a handwritten note from the second plumbings technician explaining that not only was it incorrectly wired but that it did in fact already have check valves built in the new pump as well as a photo of the replacement box that read WITH CHECK VALVE on the box and the old unit itself. We have all the necessary proof that this company deceived us as the consumer and took advantage of the home warranty company. We had hoped they would admit fault and issue a refund since the home warranty company already paid them however they refuse and will take no responsibility for their wrong doing. Therefore, they have forced us to utilize social media outlets in order to help others not be taken advantage of. Be forewarned this company has very bad business practices, they will take advantage of you, go read the other 14 complaints on Revdex.com under Triangle Backflow as they are THE SAME.Desired Settlementrefund Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] supervisorContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: **@modernbackflow.comThe complaint filed here is by the fiancée of the homeowner and not owner of the home or warranty contract. I attempted to explain why a hot water loop system required check valves regardless of the internal check valves installed inside a recirculation pump. The pump is installed on the loop line, the added check valves are added to the cold side above the connection of the pump to prevent mixing of the cold/hot water to prevent a luke warm effect, basically no hot water. This is the only way to prevent an issue and is considered the proper way to install a loop pump. A simple google search can confirm this.Concerning the wiring, I provided the fiancée with an email from the manufacturer stating there is no way to damage the pump from improper wiring, I have a copy of that email I can provide and as it happens another manufacturer technician sent me a second email stating the same answer. So I have two different representatives of the manufacturer stating no damage could have been caused by improper wiring, let alone work properly for three months. There has been no proof provided the pump was improperly wired. The email I provided the fiancée from the manufacturer even stated the pump was under warranty and the company [redacted] would honor that warranty. The fiancée nor homeowner ever contacted Modern Plumbing to address the pump issue in the beginning, and was not informed of an issue until the fiancée began accusing of wrong doing after the pump was replaced, nor has the fiancée provided the original pump for the manufacturer to test and evaluate cause of failure. The "hand written note" the fiancée sent was written on a "to do list' note pad (which I have a picture of), request for a proper invoice was ignored. It is unknown if a licensed plumber ever actually was onsite or "repaired" the pump we had installed 3 months earlier. We have yet to receive any proof of licensed plumber replacing the pump or was ever onsite, but was told it was a competing vendor for the same warranty company by the fiancée. (In addition the company that "fixed" this holds a C rating on this website)If the issue had been brought to Modern from the beginning before the fiancée had introduced a second vendor, we would have been more than happy to address the failure with the assistance of the manufacturer and manufacturer's superb warranty.Consumer Response First off I am the homeowner, [redacted], and I have filed this complaint! I am escalating this matter to small claims court. Triangle Backflow simply committed fraud and was caught accidentally by another plumbing company because of an issue with a part they installed. Triangle Backflow charged me for check valves that were actually built into the recirculating pump they installed....simple as that. The hand written note was from the plumbing company that the home warranty company assigned to fix the pump. I asked the technician to document his findings and sign that "to do list" piece of paper so that I had this in writing to show Triangle Plumbing in hopes that they would see they were at fault. Obviously I did not think things would have to go this far but since they are the plumbing company is gladly documenting their findings on their letterhead so that I can submit in court. Just an overall sad situation but justice will prevail...see you in court!Final Business Response My sincere apologies for confusing your correspondence with that of your fiancée; I believe this was caused by his lengthy email communications with the field supervisor. I will make sure to note that we are now working directly with Ms. [redacted].If you feel that small claims court is the best course of action we completely understand and will do our best to make sure that the process for court proceedings go as smoothly as possible. I do see here that we did advise you that the manufacture of the pump was willing to credit a refund pending the return of the pump and their inspection by their engineering department. If you would like to return the pump to us to establish this we will gladly send it to them, as they along with us are greatly concerned that a pump that new would fail.If that is not a suitable outcome for you once again I understand. Please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything further that we can help you with. My best- [redacted] Office Manager
