Modern Stone Design (MSD)

Very bad experience, not recommended, there are other better vendor with better price and service. They showed a different black piece and installed something different. The stone has a very dusty surface and I am chasing them to fix it. They are keeping me hanging, they first said will send someone to polish it and now they are saying they will share a product pic and I need to do my self.

Review: I contacted [redacted] from Modern Stone Design after seeing his ad on [redacted] for granite. [redacted] came to my home in early July to give me an estimate for granite counter tops. I agreed to a $1600 price and gave him a deposit of $1000 in the form of a check. I called to change the granite type and visited both Lowes and Home Depot and the up charge was $10.00 per square foot difference for 38 sq ft. and that would amount to $380 additional. [redacted] wanted to charge me a little over $1000 more for something that should have cost and additional $380. On July 29th at 943am I sent him a text requesting to change the granite and he sent back a text that it would be $2600. [redacted] wanted to charge me a little over $1000 more for something that should have cost and additional $380. told him no thanks to send back my deposit. He then texted back he spoke to his partner and he could do it for $2350. I told him again no thanks and please send my check. He said his accountant was out of town and he would have him send the check on Monday, Aug. 1. On Aug. 14th at 437pm I texted [redacted] asking where the check was. He said "I will check Monday I am outside state now, when I cone back I will tell updates my accountant should have sent already". That is a direct quote from his text. On Aug 18th at 440pm I texted again regarding the check. No response. On Aug 19, 10:50 am, I sent another text. [redacted]'s cousin responded that [redacted] was in [redacted] and will be back next week. On Aug 19, 407pm [redacted] asked what this text was about. I copied and sent him [redacted]'s previous texts. On Aug 21, 12:27pm [redacted] texted back that [redacted] would be back next week. On Aug 27, 3:18pm I texted and asked if [redacted] returned and was told via text he would be back Saturday.On Sept. 3, I texted again and was told via text, "Good evening sir, this is still [redacted] he didnt come back yet,unfortunately. [redacted] had some family issues".This has gone on for 5 1/2 weeks and I still do not have a check. I would like my $1000 deposit back.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my $1000.00.He wanted to charge me more than 200% than Lowes or Home Depot. I prefer to support small businesses but will not make this mistake again.Thank you for your help!
