Review: We had an $11,000 job with this company. There are many complaints, there is one that can be corrected. We have 2 out of 3 trees purchased that are dying. I asked [redacted] what I can do 2 1/2 months ago when I told him that the trees were watered daily. He said that plant food would help. I got plant food, watered daily, checked with a local nursery to see if there was anything that I could do to help these trees. Many texts to [redacted] with a promise to correct but no remedy. This has been going on since end of July/mid August. When I called, he won't answer, though sent me a text within 5 min, stating that he would contract the nursery and have them deal with me directly. It has been another week with nothing being done or no contact from him. Halfway through the job we find out that he does not have a contractor's license and should only be making $500, we paid him well over that. As far as contract goes, we paid him the deposit and 1st installment on time. The last installment was to be paid after work was done, the trees still looked good then. In between installments, he asked for advances stating he had a family emergency in Colorado and that another customer's check bounced and he didn't have the money for our materials. When he was confronted with YELP reviews, prior to learning he didn't have a license, he stated that he was an upstanding guy, that everything was going to work out. My husband was working in North Dakota at the time, [redacted] wasted many days, and only when my husband would call him would he get busy with our job. It was a 2 week job that turned into 5 1/2 weeks. We are still waiting for trees to be replaced.Desired Settlement: 2 spiral redwoods to be replaced, planted in the barrels, as they were contracted to be and promised 2 months ago. The 3rd one looks beautiful.

Review: Paul Helen of Modesto Landscapes, as per our contract, was to install lighting. When it was installed I pointed out that lights were faulty. They removed the faulty lights but have refused to replace them - MONTHS have gone by with numerous promises to make right by their shortcomings, but they never show. At this point, I would just like the lights that I have paid for.Desired Settlement: Man up. Do the right thing. Do what you say you will do. Quit giving excuses and start doing what you promised.

Review: I contracted with Modesto Landscapes on 3/26/15 to execute a landscaping project in my back and side yards. A downpayment of $2500 accompanied the contract signing. Additional payments of $2200 and $3800 were made on 4/6/15 and 4/9/15. The final $3800 payment was made to [redacted], the business owner, at his rather intense request before the project was completed. He said it was needed for employment payment purposes. Mr. [redacted] had seemed reasonably trustworthy up to that point so I agreed to make the final payment before the project was completed. I did so to build goodwill, something that is now clearly lacking from Mr. [redacted]. Modesto Landscapes did finish the project. Shortly after completion, I had to have them out to fix a poorly-performing irrigation location in order to save a plant that was clearly not getting enough water. Over the following weeks, it became apparent that there were three other locations where the irrigation system installed by Modesto Landscapes was not performing adequately. I notified the business and asked them to come out to fix the issues. In spite of multiple messages to the business, no one has come out to repair the deficient irrigation system. As a consequence, one plant has died and two others are near death. I took pictures of these plants and texted those pictures to Mr. [redacted]. He has not contacted me since July 3 and has ignored multiple communications from me in which I asked for a timetable on the irrigation system repair and plant replacement. The contract executed on March 26 contains the following provision: "a 1 year warranty will be affective (sp) on all goods and services rendered". Modesto Landscapes has not performed under this contract stipulation. Not only do I need to have the irrigation system fixed, I also have three plants, two large ones, that need to be replaced. Efforts to receive responses from Modesto Landscapes have been unsuccessful and the business owner, Mr. [redacted], is ignoring my requests for attention under the contract.Desired Settlement: I request that Modesto Landscapes immediately fix the inadequate irrigation system and replace the dead and dying plants. The contract contains a clear guarantee on goods and services and the business should be held accountable.

Review: Landscaping was done in my backyard in March 2015-April 2015. I've had continued issues with the irrigation system. Some sprinklers were not working and I was able to fix them, but one broke again and I've been unable to fix. The drip irrigation system is leaking from under the dirt near the on/off valves when turned on. It leaks a substantial amount of water.Concrete was also poured in my front yard on what was the lawn. I've let the lawn die, but there are weeds that need to be mowed, but I can't because of some of the lose rock that gets kicked up when I try to mow.I've tried contacting [redacted] by email several times and by phone. over the last month or month and a half and he has yet to respond.Contract states that there is a 1 year warranty on all goods and services rendered.Desired Settlement: I would like the irrigation system (both drip and sprinklers) to be repaired and the concrete cleaned up in the front lawn area.
