Modzelewski's Towing & Storage, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: On 2/8/13 my car was towed, it was not reported to the police. When I found it 3 days later the car had a 5" puncture hole through the bumper.

I was made to pay in cash for the tow. When my car was brought around to the front of the building by [redacted], he left the driver's side door open after exiting the car. I walked over and got in my car, and drove it home. When I got there, and got out and closed the door, I saw the hole the open door had been covering. I called immediately, told Mr. [redacted] this was not the condition the car was in before it was towed. He said he would talk to "his people" and get back to me. I had to call repeatedly to talk directly to him, and when I did speak with him, he told me "His people" knew nothing about it. I told him he needed to provide a replacement bumper, after he asked me what I wanted him to do about the situation. After many more unreturned phone calls I finally got an email from him on March 8 requesting the VIN for my car, in order to find the proper bumper. I replied immediately, and that is the last I have heard from his company. I have no reason to believe he is going to make good on his word at this point. I find it interesting that I was made to pay in cash for the tow/storage: $288.74, however I could have found my car faster if they had notified the [redacted] Police that they had towed it away. I had only been living in my new location for less than a week, so the Police were the second place I called to try and find it, after the condo guidelines I was left with proved to be outdated. The company listed was [redacted], not [redacted]'s which caused further delay. I would also like to add that my car was towed from it's designated parking space at my condo due to the snowfall, and the bill of sale from [redacted]'s incorrectly states that they had to winch my car out because it was in fire lane. The condo management company must have called in the tow order. When they came to get the car on 2/8/13, I was home ill with the flu and in bed. I did not realize the car was gone until a day later. That was when I began phoning around trying to locate it. The info I had been given, as I said, was outdated, and the [redacted] Police had no record of the tow. I have spoken to the P.D. who verified that yes, they are supposed to be notified if a car is towed without the owner's knowledge. They were not notified, or I could have saved myself a lot of money for so called "storage " of my car by finding it faster.

In conclusion, I feel that this was a raw deal, all around, and not a nice welcome to the neighborhood. I am grateful for any help you can give me in this matter.Desired Settlement: I want the bumper replaced, and my money refunded for all the time and trouble I have had trying to resolve this. They did not follow procedure, they concealed the damage, and then they were unresponsive.
