The appraisal process is supposed to be a cost effective way to resolve disputes. All disputes are different and fees are based, in part, on the projected amount of the total time involved. We can not put together a lengthy contract for every appraisal. It would defeat the purpose by costing all parties involved more money. We had time invested in trying to resolve the dispute. Because the dispute was resolved prior to the actual meeting doesn't mean we should not be paid for our time. The actual meeting is just part of the time involved
I am rejecting this response because: My initial request (on 8-3-17) was for a written explanation of the monies withheld from the refundIf you feel additional time has been spent on this simple request, it is only because no one from your firm would provide information as requested. I would recommend you review your firm’s business practicesI find this manner of conducting business disappointing. After working for a highly regarded company for many years, it was always in the best interest of the company to provide all terms and conditions up front and in writing to the customerBased on our correspondence over the last weeks, if your firm feels it is right and just to to keep the remaining monies for the services claimed, that is your prerogative
The actual appraisal/inspection was cancelled but the review of file documents and the coordination/scheduling with the other parties involved did happen. Most appraisers and umpires charge a minimum flat fee of $500 fro cancellations. Keep in mind the appraisal hourly rate is $185...
per hour and our office expense is $75 per file. Our cost exceeded the amount of the complaint and further time involved only increases the lost amount.
