Mogo has done nothing but *** and made threats in email after email. They are very *** company

I took out a $500 loan from Mogo early this year. I have been making payments on time every time and started to pay off my balance. Early to mid July the company put a program in place called MogoProtect. This protected the user from a $45 missed payment fee if they were to which I did on October 15, 2018 as a result of switching over banks around the time the fee was to come out. I had sent my payment in the day after it was due with an additional $100, I sent in $142.27. I was under the assumption my principal balance was $42.27 when it was in fact $43.83 meaning I still owed $1.56 in order to bring my principal balance to $300 and my interest payment in good standing. I requested an email indicating my new principal balance as well as new interest payment and was told my principal balance was $310 and my interest payment was $30.23. So I messaged and then received a call from a manager to discuss why my principal was $310 and not $300. They said that because of their system, I owed $52.27 for my interest as supposed to $43.83 with no actual explanation for that. The manager tried to talk me through the process of the missed payment and what happens but to me it was simple math. If an account is to be charged $45 on top of what is owed but then that fee is waived, then it should be as simple as what is owed.I paid $142.27 but what I should have paid was $143.83 with a difference of $1.56. I am writing this complaint because the math did not make sense and I needed a clear understanding and not them trying to confuse me with numbers. I laid out everything clearly to ***-*** in Payment Services as to what I actually owed and she was insistent that she was correct until she realized what I said made sense. She tried to back track and make sure her answer was on record because I said I was sending this complaint in to you guys

Desired Outcome

I would just like this to be on record for future if there were a problem with myself or another person.

Mogo Financial (Ontario) Response • Oct 30, 2018

We apologize for the miscommunication that occurred here. We have a Resolution Team that is dedicated to ensuring our customers have the best possible Mogo experience. In the future, should you have any concerns you can reach out to them directly at ***@mogo.ca . After your phone call with ***, your account was sent to the Resolution Team to complete a thorough review and we apologize that this was not communicated to you. A posting error occurred on your account on October 18th and was corrected on October 19th. To clarify, the value added service that allows for a missed payment is the Flex Service Bundle. Because you opted in to this service we can confirm that you were not charged the NSF fee of $45 for your returned payment. As mentioned previously, this has now been corrected and everything in your account is in order. Because of this inconvenience we have waived your upcoming minimum payment amount due October 31. We are sending you an email outlining the full details including amounts etc. but to maintain your privacy are not including that information in our response. Thank you.

I am trying to payoff my loan for the last 3 weeks, I have tried 10 times through live chat to get MOGO debit me with payoff amount, so far nothing, I have been getting the run around by customer service that they will get back my phone call, never received one call ever.

Desired Outcome

This matter was resolved with Mr. on July 10th after he submitted this complaint. There was a technical issue with his bank that complicated this matter but everything is now resolved.

MOGO advertises easy loan applications with no impact to your credit score for the pre-approval loans. I clicked on the button based on the fact it expressly stated my credit would not be effected. This was a complete lie.

Between August and September my credit score dropped 8 points immediately after the above action was completed. I have a great score and am very careful with it. I did nothing to impact my score that month other than this apparently.

I contacted Mogo and they refused to call me back.

This is a serious issue as my livelihood depends on my credit score and they completely lied about not impacting my score.

Desired Outcome

Please have them call me to try and restore whatever they did so my credit is back to normal.

Mogo Financial (Ontario) Response

Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. We would also like to apologize for the oversight of not responding to the initial request. We can reassure you that you were not lied to and we stand behind our claims that a pre-approval offer will not impact you credit score. We have done a thorough review of your account and we confirm that you have signed up for our credit score refresh which allows Mogo to provide your *** Canada credit score to you without impacting your credit score. This inquiry is a "soft hit" and does not impact your credit score. We also confirm that you submitted a request for a Mogomoney pre-approval offer on August 29th,017. We confirm that this inquiry is also a "soft hit" and does not impact your credit score. We can see from your history since signing up for the credit score refresh that your score has fluctuated numerous times both up and down from October 2016 to present all within the 8 point range you reference above. It is common for a credit score to fluctuate like this as there are many data points that are factored into your score. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to determine exactly what has caused the drop as we do not have that level of detail available to us. We recommend that you contact *** Canada directly at *** as they will be able to give you information that we can't. We recommend you have them confirm that all inquiries from Mogo to date have been "soft inquiries" and therefore are not the cause of any fluctuation in your score. It is important to note that there are various types of credit scores and while Mogo uses the "RS2" version, if you speak with *** Canada they will likely speak to you about your *** Score. That being said they will be able to confirm that any Mogo "hits" on your account are all "soft hits" and would not be the cause of a drop in your score. You can ask *** for the "reason codes" behind the drop in your score and these should explain what has happened, we do not have access to this information. Once again we want to reassure you that Mogo has not made any false claims and we encourage you to contact *** directly at the number provided so they may confirm the information we have given you. Thank you, Mogo
