Mohan's Custom Tailors

Review: I custom ordered six shirts and 3 suits. I emailed Mohan's the night after I placed the initial order, asked if I could switch the fabric of one of the suits.. [redacted] at Mohan's wrote, yes, if I came in the next few days, he could make the changes. I came back in and picked out new fabric. My order then was for one black suit, one blue suit and one gray plaid suit with pink thread. The gray plaid with the blue thread was the one being replaced. When I came for the first fitting, the 2 plaids suits were there, but the blue suit was missing. When I reminded [redacted] that we had made the change, he immediately accused me of being wrong. I asked him to please go through his books and he came back and said I was correct. He then located the blue suit. I tried on all four suits that day and none of them fit. The pants were too short and too wide. The sleeves on the jackets were too short. The torso portion of the jacket was ill fitting. Suits that I have purchased “off the rack” fit better than these suits did. The tailors at first did not seem notice or care how ill-fitting these suits were. It was not until I pointed out where the suits did not fit properly that they started to make alterations. It should not be my job to point out the problems. Additionally, at the first fitting, I was unable to button the collar of any of the shirts. Furthermore, the buttons' on the collar were not centered. Lastly, the material between the collar button and the second button puckered. The tailors remeasured and said that they would make alterations and that we should return for a second fitting. I emailed you that night after the first fitting to inform you of our disappointment with the Mohans product. When I arrived for the second fitting again I was unable to button the collar and again, there was puckering between the first and second buttons. At first the tailors said that they fit well, but then they acknowledged that the collars needed to be remade. Again, none of the suits fit. The pants pulled across the front. They also were puckering across the back. The pants were too full in the hip and did not fall smoothly to the floor. What was the most frustrating was the fact that the tailors did not say anything until I pointed out the tailoring problems. This should be the tailors’ job. They should strive to make the most beautifully fit suits. That is what we are paying a premium for. Custom tailored suits should fit perfectly. Additionally, the blue suit that was ordered appeared to have gone missing - again. And again, [redacted] accused me of not ordering the suit. He eventually realized his mistake, but he could not find the blue suit. I returned to Mohan's 2 more times for a total of 5 fittings. After the second fitting I had requested a refund, but [redacted] would not honor my request. He asked that I give him another opportunity to make the suits fit to my satisfaction. I have pictures of the suits on 2 separate occasions showing the alterations that needed to be made. He still did not find the blue suit. I purchased the suits in good faith. The cost of these suits is substantial. The total price of the suits and shirts was $8000. I left a $4000. deposit. I paid for and expected custom made and custom fit suits. What I have seen so far is very poor workmanship and even worse customer service. Because of this, and the time I have spent going back and forth to the showroom, I are requesting a full refund of my $4000.00 deposit. The initial order date was 6/*/12, the five fitting dates were 8/**/2012 ,10/**/2012 ,12/*/2012, 12/**/2012, 2/**/2013. I never picked up the suits because they never fit. I left them at Mohan's and never went back.Desired Settlement: Refund to my credit card of the full amount of the deposit in the amount of $4000.00
