Mohave Community Federal Credit Union Reviews (1)

I was a member of this union after purchasing a car through an auto finding service that collaborated with this union for financing. I was ecstatic to get such a low interest rate, and had been told credit unions were more traditional and personable than using a big name bank, so I wasn't too concerned with financing through this union. I had my car for about 2 years making the monthly payments with no problems. My fiancé used the same auto finding service and purchased a car, also financed through Mcfcu. So this is where our problems began with this company. We lived together at the time so we had the same address and checking account number. We both had our own loans through Mcfcu. Hers was in her name and my loan in my name, so clearly had different account numbers for our loans through Mcfcu. Being as a traditional credit union at the time you had to send your payment through the mail, with a check and payment stub. We were always careful to put our account number on the check with the correct payment stub, just because of the same address/checking account number issue. At this point I had my car for about 3 years and my fiance about a year. No issues with payments being behind or late. However, I got a call one day from Carol who worked in "member solutions" very rudely demanding for a payment and that my car payment was almost 2 months behind. At this point, I recollected my bank statements sure enough there wasn't a payment taken out for the previous month. I immediately made a payment over the phone the next day with her. A couple days later was my usual due date for that month and made my payment and confirmed with checking account it was taken out. Couple weeks pass by, and Carol calls me again telling me my payment was past due over 2 months this time and if I can't pay the total within a couple of days that my car will be repossessed. I didn't have that disposable income at the time and told her I would be able to pay one payment, but the other two would have to wait. From the payments I had made, I should be caught up and as I questioned the situation to her, she became more angry and upset because I didn't have the money to pay her. She threatened me again with reposession, and continued to harass me by calling my work and cell phone demanding I make a payment. At that point I tried to talk to someone else in the office, but seemingly Carol is the only person who handles “overdue” accounts. To make matters worse, my fiance was 7 months pregnant at the time and was put on bed rest unable to work. So the financial burden was put on my shoulders as I was trying to figure out how to catch up on these “missing” payments. I explained our situation and my understanding of the payments I had made to Carol, trying to work out an agreement with her. She didn't care, and each time I spoke with her she was increasingly rude and threatened me with repossesion. She went as far as calling my fiance demanding her for the money. Even though she wasn't on my loan? Sadly enough, I couldn't come up with the extra income and two payments later and about month after the intial phone from Carol, my car was repossessed for still being 2 months behind. About a month after I looked further into exactly when and where my payments were made. Come to find out two of my payments were unjustifiably applied to my fiance's account! Never would I have guessed that such a simple mistake was being made to my account. Had I been able to talk to someone who was willing to investigate and understand my genuine confusion of the situation, I would still have my car today. We still have my, now wife's car financed with Mcfcu. We moved across the country about two months after my car was taken, due to job relocation and a new baby. My credit was hit by it, but we are doing fine and have moved on. I still have all my payment statements from Mcfcu from that time. Turns out Carol doesn't work in member solutions anymore thank goodness, and the lady who does is someone who cares and wants to help if need be. We explained my situation to her, and she said would be willing to try to help by submitting proper paperwork to get the repo removed from my credit report. This credit union is a joke. The people who work there are unethical and amateurs. They have brought a few new people in, but be aware Carol still works here. No big name bank would have ever been able to do what she did.
