This is true in some partsThey did replace the bulbs once for free, and the second time I had to payThey did replace the bulbs and improperly installed them causing the headlight assembly to melt around where the bulb is insertedEvery time it was changed, the problem was not fixed as the problem lies within the DRL electrical systemAt this point the car is a safety hazard, and will go on to report to NHTSA if it does not get fixed

Dear Revdex.com,We do have record of a 1/**/16 (almost 1 year ago) visit from [redacted] regarding a left side headlamp malfunction.  The technician diagnosed the headlamps as needing replacement, two bulbs were out at this time.  We informed the customer that we would install the bulbs for no...

charge, they would only be responsible for the cost of the light bulbs themselves.The customer refused the repair and we have not seen them since.  I do believe the customer was frustrated that the bulbs would not be covered by some sort of warranty.  Any and all warranties that would cover light bulbs had expired and we do not have authorization to stretch any manufacturers warranty.If the customer would like to contact VW to see if would like to participate in any gesture of goodwill, the contact number is [redacted].  Alternatively, our offer still stands, if the customer will pay for the light bulbs we will install them (complete the labor) at no charge.Please let me know if there are any further questions. Sincerely, Gordy W[redacted], OwnerCompass Motors###-###-####

Dear Revdex.comWe have reviewed and certainly understand the customers concern.  Based on our records from the last visit on 1/**/16 (almost 1 year ago) we have no record of a damaged left side headlamp assembly, only two burned out bulbs.  It would have been very much in our interest to identify a condition such as a damaged headlamp assembly and recommend a remedy.  At the time of this visit we diagnosed only bulbs as the issue and we did offer to replace them for just the cost of the light bulbs and waive the labor charge.  The customer refused the repair/charge and we reinstalled their burned out bulbs.Furthermore, I do not understand how we could have damaged the left side headlamp assembly on 1/**/16. We simply re-installed burned out light bulbs, these bulbs would not illuminate and therefore will not generate any heat; therefore no chance of damage from an incorrect installation.  It is hard to believe that almost 12 months could pass with these critical driving lights inoperative if the car was in regular use.  I am certain it would compromise driving safety as well elicit moving violations from local authorities.  I am also curious if this issue has been resolved or does it remain outstanding?If there is a belief that a fundamental design flaw at VW is the root cause of this issue, again I urge you to contact VW Customer Service at ###-###-#### and make an appeal for a gesture of goodwill to resolve the situation.I will reiterate our offer, we are happy to look at the left side headlamp assembly and replace the two bulbs that required replacement on 1/**/16, the only charge will be for the parts, not the labor. Sincerely, Gordy W[redacted], OwnerCompass Motors###-###-####
