Response:

[redacted] Home Improvement aims to consistently deliver a professional service to our customers and I would like to state that on this occasion the level of service you received was unacceptable. To begin with, I would like to set up a date and time with [redacted] to go over all work necessary to complete the job.

Review: Contractor breached contract by failing to complete work within terms of contract, forcing home owner to hire additional workers and incur additional costs.Desired Settlement: Prompt closure of monies owed to homeowner

Response:

The above complaint is referencing a light fixture that was installed for [redacted] where they originally requested installation and then decided they wanted to move location of light fixture. [redacted] had no complaints during or as work was in progress. We had communications with her throughout job via phone, email and text. Our electrician did go back to the residence to remedy some punch list items. When myself and [redacted] had our last meeting to collect the final payment, they decided to use their own electrician to move the location of the light fixture. There was a credit issued to the complaintants for $1000 because they decided they were going to use their own electrian to move and repair ceiling. When leaving [redacted] all was agreed upon and they were satisfied. There was no other communications after job completed because all was agreed upon and satisfied. We pride ourselves on making sure the customers are satisfied and the credit issued was more than fair. No other contact or attempt has been made by [redacted] to our company since job complete in regards to this issue.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

The original area of concern did focus on the light fixture, wherein the root cause resided in the contractor discarding key components of the fixture (i.e. the factory provided chain and wiring), rendering this fixture being unable to be moved to the proper location. The solution originally proposed was for the homeowner to travel to multiple electrical supply stores to purchase a new chain and wiring.

After the homeowner was unsuccessful in trying to remedy the contractor's error, $1000 was held back until the contractor could remedy the problem properly. The contractor failed to contact the homeower after three weeks, and thus the homeowner hired another contractor to complete the work on the light fixture. The $1000 will be retained by the homeowner for all of their effort to resolve the light fixture fiasco.

However, the new contractor identified additional deficiencies in the original contractor's work, which will require more cash outlay on the part of the homeowner to correct. $500 is the current estimate.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that the proposal by the business to refund the homeowner is a satisfactory resolution. Upon receipt of the $500 check from the contractor the matter will be resolved.
