Molly's Family Restaurant Reviews (2)

My family and I went to breakfast this morning, 10/04/14, at Molly's, like we have so many times before. Sadly, this was our last visit; we will NEVER eat there again.
The chefs are amazing and quick, the waitresses are sweet and polite, and the food portions are huge. Previously we ordered bread bowls stuffed with deliciousness. NONE OF THIS MATTERS IF YOU TRY TO POISON ME AND MY FAMILY! NO FOOD IS WORTH GOING HOME AND HAVING THREE DAYS WORTH OF MOLD/FOOD POISONING!
We ordered cinnamon rolls, which were extremely dry and crumbly. I took a bite and it tasted funny I tried to slice through it and ended up tearing it apart from top to bottom with my fork. The entire inside of the bread was solid black with mold. Let me be clear when I say, this was not surface mold, but deep seated mold that made the whole inside of the actual bread part black.
When I pointed it out, the waitress apologized and soon had the cinnamon roll removed from my ticket. We had actually ordered two and mine was the one that was moldy, though they were both hard and crumbly. My husband and I had only eaten about half of our omelets/hash browns and there was no way we would be eating anymore of the food. My 2 year old daughter just woke up and we allowed her to eat her pancakes and eggs because I figured pancakes wouldn't have bee exposed to bread mold spores and eggs would be protected by their shells if exposed to other bad things in a fridge. I then asked for a manager and explained that if I am served something that will make me sick if I eat it, and other ingredients are kept in the same fridge, that is poor food practices and I should not have to pay for my food. Basically, since I ate food that will probably result in being very sick for the next few days, I shouldn't have to pay, and we wouldn't be finishing our food. I also explained my reasoning in allowing my two year old to eat her pancakes and eggs and said that we would pay for the drinks and my daughter's food, since those items were likely to be safe.
The acting manager had the other items removed and the waitress brought our adjusted tab, which came to just under $10.00. I tipped the waitress according the amount of the first bill which included everything, at about 15%.
If you try to poison me, you should comp my meal. Regardless, serving food that poisons people equals poor food practices. What else don't they clean out? How often do they clean their fridge? How old were those cinnamon rolls? Bread mold spores travel easily and can contaminate everything in a whole fridge. What if I shared it with my two year old first? There's at least a 50/50 chance that I will have food poisoning symptoms for the next three days. I'm just glad it was me and not my baby, which is something you should never have to say about a restaurant visit.

Review: There are times that I need a walker and thier rest rooms are not set up for me to getbin to the rest room with my walker. I have a normal sized wheeled walker. Also I have a service dog and was told that sheis not welcome beacuse she two small to be a service dog. Then last night. I went and was told that if I was not ordering food I should just not come back. Even thou people at my table ordered food. I have bad food allergies and the last time I ate at Molly's I was sick.Desired Settlement: The rest room needs to be ada up to codem lucky for me I can hold on to walls and hop around. Not everyone that wheelchair bound can do that. The staff need to know that its not okay to make someone feel bad for haveing a service dof. I am really sorry people can not see that I am disabled bit that makes me no less. And training on how to handle disabliable guest and not male them feel less then people.

Response:

To my knowledge Molly's has NEVER not allowed a service animal int our restaurant. However; if this complaint is valid then the customer who made the complaint needs to contact myself directly at [redacted]. Dogs are special to Molly's and are always treated as such. Molly's was named after the owners dog>

As far as the restrooms are concerned. They are small. The building was built in 1972 and those bathrooms were at code at that time. I would love to be able to enlarge them, but quite frankly I do not have the $120,000 to do so. And lastly on the complaint. Molly's is open to serve paying customers that is how we pay our bills and employ personnel. Everyone who comes into Molly's and takes up our seating is required to make a purchase. This is how we stay in business and this policy will never change.

Thank You;
