mom's Organic Market

Picked up Bhutan Rice at Mom's from their bulk container. The product contained live weevils which contaminated my entire pantry, including flours, grains and meals. I had to throw out everything the weevils got into. I got no help from Mom's. The local store manager suggested I email the owner, which I did. I got no response. They have lost a customer.

Review: When shopping at Mom's the store clerks push you to buy expensive ($20 to $40) products, telling you that if you don't like it, just save yoru receipt and return the item. I did that and frequently would not like the project, but nonetheless would not return it. some items were so bad I did decide to return them. While shopping one time, I overheard a sales lady giving someone else the line about buy it and if you don't like it return it, but she added "within 30 days." When I made my purchase, I read the receipt and it provided that returns had to be made, with the receipt, within 30 days. When I checked my receipts at home, they provided the same thing. So I quickly gathered up the 3 items I wanted to return, and even though I had the receipts and one was unopened, the manager said she could not accept the returns as it was past 30 days. She said I could spend time writing to Scott, the owner, and see if he would accept the returns. So, about a week later, I made the time to send scott the following email:

I have been shopping at Mom's for approx 8 months. I shop for natural food, cosmetics, supplements, cleansers and dog food. Your helpful staff always say "well try it. If you don't like it you can return it, just keep your receipt".

Finally, one person said just return within 30 days--I don't make it a habit of reading the fine print on receipts.

So I brought in the returns for which I had receipts:

No Flush Niacn: $17.39; 5/16/13 Kept me awake at night

RNWFL CLNSMRT First Cleanse: $26.89; 3/17/13 Did not work, at all. Had them been some small benefit I would not have tried to return it.

Paragone: $37.xx. Date rubbed off receipt Unopened as I figured since Their other product did not work, this one prob would not work either.

I tried to return these products about two weeks ago and was told I would have to contact you to get your permission. The very kind manager did not have the authority to make an exception, even though she volunteered that she recognized me as being a regular customer.

I have read the return policy she gave me:

1. If your prices are truly lower than other grocery stores, why would I buy products at a higher priced store and return then to your lower priced store? [On the return policy the manager gave me, [redacted] said he needed the receipts to ensure the products were purchased at Mom's and not elsewhere.]

2. None of the products expired and one of them can go back on the shelf.

I have gone back to being a regular customer of Whole Foods, until, and unless, we can resolve this matter.

The curt response I received is as follows:

Hi [redacted]. Sorry- I can't accept the returns of so many items that were purchased from months past- and that are opened and/or empty. Additionally, we reviewed your return history and it is in the top percentile.

So far as the products being opened, how else could I tell if I liked them or they worked? The Niacn had 2 or 3 pills removed from a jar of 50 (the sales lady convinced me to get the big bottol, since it was cheaper that way and I could return it if I don't like it), the cleanse product was only 1/2 empty and the thrid product was unopened!

Additionally, I am probably in the top percentile of purchasers!

When the sales staff (and they are in sales) tells me I can return the product as long as I bring in the receipt, and then I make the purchase, that is the contract. The handing me the receipt, after I have given them my money, which contains a modification of our contract/agreement (that the return has to be made within 30 days) is invalid.Desired Settlement: Refund in the amount of $85.34 (5% sales tax)
