Monarch Investments

Monarch Investments is a joke. They are terrible property managers who do not care about their tenants, only making money. We live on the bottom floor of one of their complexes in Missouri and have had sewer (literally poop) back up into our apartment 3 times in the 5 months since we moved in. Management did clean up the mess somewhat although I also had to spend several hours cleaning). The apartment is almost unlivable. We constantly have maintenance issues and there are currently only 2 maintenance people for 300+ apartments. [redacted] (sp??), the manager, is a terrible manager with a bad attitude, and I am not surprised that they can't keep people working here. They obviously knew there were plumbing problems before we moved in, but there was no mention made of it when we signed our lease. So even though our apartment is disgusting and falling apart, they will not let us out of our lease, they will not move us into another apartment without paying a $500 moving fee, they will not take any money off of our rent for our lost/damaged items. The will not even reimburse us a few dollars for lost paper towels and toilet paper that were on the floor when the apartment flooded. They told us to file a claim with our renter's insurance for some lost toilet paper and paper towels. Apparently they don't understand how renter's insurance works. Our apartment is falling apart. Our lease says they are supposed to change the air filters once a month, but they haven't been changed since we moved in. We were also told that the highest electric bill they had heard of was around $80, our last electric bill was $250, and we keep our thermostat set low. Management is shady and does not care about residents. I wish we would never have moved in here, and I will spend hours warning people not to move into any Monarch property. I have never been treated so poorly in my life.
