Monarch Snowmobile Tours and Rentals LLC

We went snowmobiling at Monarch snowmobile tours on December 31st. We rented 10 snowmobiles as we had 12 people and we were told that we would get 2 guides and split into 2 groups as some of us were more experienced raiders than the others. We did not get 2 guides, only 1 as we were told they were too busy that day.
The machines they use are very outdated and should have been retired 10 years ago. You could see that some had bent control arms, the plastic is completely cracked, and seats are fully destroyed. The reverse does not work; you need physically to lift the snowmobile if you need to back up. The muffler is right into your face. After riding for hardly 2 hours I had a head ache for a day. The machines are horrible and not maintained at all.
As we started our trip the guide would literally stop at each turn and wait until all of us would get together. We would travel 50 feet at the time. As we approached the first obstacle, a small uphill, he said it was too dangerous for us to ride it and he rode every single snowmobile up the hill while 12 of us were standing at the top and watching him ride all of the machines one by one. What a joke. As we approached the other hill one of the snowmobiles died and would not start. We spent 30 minutes trying to start it. It was missing bolt on the engine cover so the guide took one of the bolts from the other snowmobile. Now, we had 2 snowmobiles missing bolts. I doubt they ever replaced those bolts after we got back to the shop!
We were promised to have 30 minutes of free riding time that never happened as we spent fixing one of the broken snowmobiles for 30 minutes.
As we came back to the shop I went to talk to the owner. That guy was the biggest “clown”. He listened to my story and then started to argue with me that he has the best snowmobiles in the whole Colorado. I do not know if he was high like a kite or he just woke up from 15 year hibernation. I rented snowmobiles in the past multiple times and I have never seen such outdated, beat up machines.
The owner offered us 10% off for our time that we wasted fixing the snowmobile or get out of the shop. I decided not to deal with this clown anymore and walked out. My friends stayed and argued with him for another 20 minutes until they realized that the whole place is nothing more than a “circus”.
To make my long story short, do not go to this place. There are plenty of great snowmobile rentals that have an excellent customer service, great guides, and great machines. You will be disappointed if you go to Monarch snowmobile rentals! Do not ever go there!!!
