Monroe Industries Reviews (%countItem)

I made the mistake of giving this company half the money upfront for a job, This company is completely misrepresenting themselves a legitimate contractor, but should be listed as an amateur handyman service. Way over their heads with the most basic construction. Also very unprofessional. Observed drinking, smoking on the job, and not showing up on time or at all. Realized they were over their heads and abandoned my project. Ran off with my money and trashed all the supplies I purchased. Once confronted promised to return my money, but vanished. I am now forced to take them to court to retrieve my money. Do yourself a favor and hire a professional contractor and avoid the hassle.

Do not pay this company until all work is complete! Drinks & smokes on the job! Inconsistent, unethical and will not finish the job. Unable to provide accurate quotes and refuses to enter into a contract

Ms. contracted with you and *** to perform work at a property located on ***. On March 21, 2018, you provided Ms. with a quote to install: (1) new concrete piers for structure support; (2) new plywood around the band of the home; and (3) framing around the perimeter of the home. The total cost to perform this work is Twenty Thousand dollars and 00/00 ($20,000.00). Ms. paid a deposit in the amount of Ten Thousand dollars and 00/100 ($10,000.00). You agreed that this deposit was sufficient for *** to initiate and complete the work, with the balance due upon completion.

Unfortunately, you and *** never began the contracted work. As a result, on April 13, 2018, Ms. cancelled the contract and requested a full refund of her deposit. To date, despite your promise to issue a refund, Ms. has not received any of the monies that she tendered. You and your company are tortuously and improperly withholding her monies. Furthermore, your actions may be criminal in nature and constitute a theft.

Ms. is fully prepared to pursue all legal remedies available to her. She is prepared to file formal complaints with the appropriate state and local licensing agencies and the Revdex.com. She will also contact and cooperate with the appropriate authorities to ensure that the appropriate criminal charges are filed against all individuals who have acted illegally. My client is further primed to file a lawsuit against you, ***, and any employee who participated in the continued withholding of her deposit.

This correspondence is a formal demand for a full refund of all monies ($10,000.00) that Ms. has tendered to***. Due to your failure to timely begin and complete the contracted work or issue a refund, my client has incurred significant expense. At this time, she is merely requesting that her deposit be refunded.

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like a refund of $10,000 and the closing fees for having to take out another loan to complete the repairs.

Monroe Industries Response • Sep 23, 2018

On the complain mentioned above I'm responding on behalf of Monroe Industries. We are a company that prides ourselves on detail, precision, honesty, integrity, and performing the task at its highest level possible. I've been in business for over 25 years. We've taken on a great name and quality with our craftsmanship. I'm not sue what has happened with our labor force and do to inconsistencies on man power I fell short with my flooring obligation! I do apologize for the inconvenience that I may have caused. I'm elevating slowly out of that dark place, If at all possible may I have until the middle of October to produce a good faith payment and follow up with a schedule that will allow me to repay debt? I spent a total of $2700 on the labor and materials for the concrete piers that was installed in the crawl space. Is there any adjustments for the peirs and if not I still will repay the 10k amount! I do apologize again for the inconvenience.

Customer Response • Sep 26, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Unfortunately, I cannot accept anything less than $10,000 due to the fact that I had to take out another loan to get the floors completed, in addition to paying the $1500 monthly payments because the house isn't completed. You never provided the invoice for the materials, you put less than $100 worth of materials in the crawlspace, and you didn't communicate with me or my lawyers in trying to resolve this issue amicably. Again, unfortunately, I won't be able to take anything less than $10,000 and if the 10,000 isnt' paid by the end of October, we will have to sue you for $16,000+ because of all of the fees, damages, and time wasted. Thank you!
