Monroe Village Apartments

Review: I was a tenant of Monroe Village for about 4 1/2 years. When my lease was up in Feb 2014 I was not contacted or asked to sign another lease. I was planning on doing so if asked, but continued to pay my rent on time as I had done every month as long as I had lived there. I got a new job within USACE and was looking to buy a house around March. I spoke with the landlord and discussed a shorter term lease, maybe 6 months. Another month passed and I found a house to buy and my offer was accepted, before a lease was given to me to sign. I informed the landlord and they were fine with it. I got my closing date which was June 11, and asked if I could pay a half month rent for June and be out by the 15th. They agreed. When I received my refund check I saw I was charged a late payment fee ($50) and the other half of rent for the month of June ($367.50). After calling upwards of 30-40 times and being put off and put off, today (Dec 17, more than 6 months later,) I was informed that the carpets needed replaced and they had to pay a cleaner to come in. The cleaning charge and also a charge to steam clean the carpets was already taken out of my original security deposit. The carpets were new when I moved in and other than a steam cleaning, they were fine when I moved out. My old landlord told me that instead of charging me $600 to replace the carpets, they simply kept the other half of my security deposit. This was not on their itemization sheet they sent me originally with my lack of security deposit refund. Only now, 6 months later, do I receive any explanation, and it sounds like they made an accounting mistake and are now just going to keep my deposit.Desired Settlement: I would like the money owed to me - $417.50.
