Monsoon Roofing, Inc. Reviews (22)

We required an emergency roof replacement and one call to Monsoon on a Friday and Monday they were able to begin. The job was wrapped up in about 5 days to our complete satisfaction. Working with Eric (supervisor) and Melvin (owner) was a real pleasure. Upon completion, the site was cleaned up to our satisfaction. We can highly recommend them.

About three years ago, I paid Monsoon Roofing almost $12,000 to replace the shingles on my roof. I chose Monsoon Roofing over a firm from [redacted] that showed up after the storm, primarily because Monsoon was local and had a good reputation. I like to support local business whenever I can.
When the owner came out to bid, I asked if he could include the cost of removing the base of an old evaporative cooler that had been removed a few years earlier. He told me no problem and removed the base, patched the hole with plywood and shingled over it. From the outside it looked great, they did a nice job on the roof. At the time, I didn’t see any sheet metal, and asked if they patched the hole in the ductwork left after removing the base. He assured me there was no hole in the duct in the attic.
Later that winter, I couldn’t keep the house warm on cold nights, and the next summer, my heat pump couldn’t keep the house cool. It was running 24 hours a day, but very little air was coming out of the vents. My electric bills increased dramatically. I called repair companies, but was told the heat pump was running fine. I called Monsoon Roofing and asked again if his roofers did anything to create this problem. He insisted there was nothing his roofers did to cause my problem. I finally had to replace the heat pump because I didn’t want spend another summer in a 90º+ heat.
Fast forward to last week. A new heat pump was ordered and the existing ducts were to be replaced to provide for better air flow. Before they removed the existing ducts, I asked the HVAC contractor to check for anything unusual and report back.
This is what he said:
1. There was a large 19”x24” hole in my duct. The roofers removed the base off my roof but didn't fix the large hole that was left in my air duct. They reroofed with plywood and shingled knowing the hole was there, assuming it would never be discovered and knowing the problems it would cause. After they left, the air from the heat pump simply blew into the attic, never making past the large hole.
2. The roofers decided not to throw the metal from the base into the garbage. They looked at the hole in the duct, then bent the base and jammed it into the duct through the hole. If any air was able to pass by the hole in my duct, it certainly was blocked by the garbage left by their roofers.
I’m very unhappy knowing the roofers created this problem and left knowing it wasn't right. When asked, the owner claimed the hole in the duct had been covered. If I hadn’t replaced my heat pump, I may have never found out. I really don't know why anybody would do this, especially since it it was never that difficult to do it right the first time.
I have pictures, and the old ductwork with the hole. I also have the bent cooler base recovered from inside the ducts.
I am a 40+ year homeowner, this is my first complaint to the Revdex.com ever.

Had a positive experience with Monsoon Roofing. Melvin (the owner) did an excellent job going over the proposal for re-roofing of our house and answered all questions we had on it. They used high quality underlayment. The owner did a great job keeping us up to date with the whole process beginning to end. We were provided photos before re-roofing, during the re-roofing and after the re-roofing. The crew worked hard and fast. They did a great job cleaning at the end of each day. The price was fair and reasonable compare to the other 10 quotes we obtained from the other roofing companies. They were not the cheapest or the most expensive, but were in range with what the majority of the roofing companies were quoting us to get a reroof of the house. Highly recommend this company for any roofing needs!

I had a great experience with Monsoon Roofing. Eric Stack, their Superintendent, gave me a very detailed estimate and explained my options. He kept me well informed during the project. The roofers were courteous and left the property in great shape. The price seemed fair and the job was completed in a reasonable time frame. My tile roof looks great and I would definitely recommend them.

Melvin from Monsoon Roofing was very helpful in fixing two broken tiles from storm damage. He provided excellent information for roof replacement and I will definitely use his services again.

I called Monsoon Roofing to request a quote due to some heavy leakage I was having in my home because of the heavy storms this summer. I received quotes from three other companies, but I have to say that the estimator from Monsoon Roofing was not only truthful but the quote he gave me was very reasonable. The workers came a week later and they were very respectful and knew what they were doing. I highly recommend this company due to their honesty, work ethic, and obvious experience.

Monsoon Roofing just completed our reroof as of 05/05/2015. Excellent work and great clean-up. I highly recommed this company! Completely satisfied.

After having a bad experience with one roofing company after the summer storms (2014) we were lucky to come in contact with Monsoon Roofing due to a friends recommendation.
[redacted], the owner of Monsoon Roofing, provided us with a perfect experience in acquiring a completely new roof.
From a very clear estimate at or below industry pricing to cleaning all debris every day we just couldn't imagine a better experience.
The neighbors all agree as they were out in full force this morning admiring the new roof and the value it adds to the entire neighborhood.
I would not hesitate to recommend Monsoon Roofing for any roofing project or simply repairs as it can be hard to find trustworthy contractors.
Case in point, our earlier experience with another roofer that assured us a few simple repairs were all that would be necessary. After two thousand dollars and at least four trips to our house to fix the continuing leaks this other contractor offered a reroof at ~33% higher than Monsoon. After learning a bit about the trade myself it became obvious that repairs were impossible on 20+ year old 30lb felt curling up everywhere. Monsoon would not even entertain repairs nor did they ever suggest a single coat of backing - something only a house flipper would want.
So given all of that I felt compelled to come post this review here, I hope others find it helpful.

Monsoon roofing was one of five estimates I secured to replace the my 18 year old roof. [redacted], the owner, provided the estimate and took the time to explain all of the work that would be done. [redacted] carries a copy of the AZ roofing "code" book and referenced it several times during the estimate to address my questions regarding the techniques that would be used to replace the roof. I found that Monsoon uses the same techniques and materials that the "big" roofing companies in AZ use. They also offer the same 10 year warranty. Monsoon was not the least expensive quote I received but was about 15-20% less than two large contractors that provided quotes. The work started on the day promised and the same crew completed the job. I was told it would take 8-10 days and the job was completed in 6. [redacted] visited the job site several times and made sure I was satisfied with the progress. The crew takes care to clean up after each day to make sure the majority of debris is removed. [redacted] and his crew take pride it their work. I believe the level of service provided by Monsoon, including direct involvement of the owner, would be hard to find with some of the larger roofing contractors in the state. Highly recommended.

professional and thorough, attended to all the details.

Monsoon Roofing re-roofed our tile roof in Gold Canyon. They provided an estimate and a time frame for starting and completing the project. The team worked very hard, started and finished on schedule, and provided an excellent result. There was regular communication on the project's status. I am extremely thankful that Monsoon Roofing took such care installing the new roof. They are the best!

Highly recommend - an excellent company to work with! Immaculate clean-up afterward. And if you can call a roof and repair work beautiful, I've got one. I believe the superintendent in charge for this project deserves a lot of credit not only for the initial presentation of his company's repair proposal but continued follow-up.

We used Monsoon Roofing to replace our tile roof. They provided competitive pricing and excellent work. Everyone was professional and showed up right when they said they would. We received frequent communication on the progress of the work and were notified of the next days' plans. We would definitely recommend them and would use them again in the future!

My husband and I had solicited multiple bids from roof contractors to assess roof eave damage we had from moisture. We also had wood rot to beams of a patio extension that needed to be replaced. Bids were provided to repair just the damaged wood areas and the option of re roofing our home. Being our home was 25 years old and by the time we spent a couple thousand for wood damage we opted to have the new roof. Many of the contractors were not able to provide panting or repairs to the patio extension. But Monsoon provided a cost to do everything. Their bid was not the lowest in fact it was the highest but comparing each of the bids they offered what we believe was a better produce,a 10 year warranty, and could take care of all needs. Even made some suggestions others did not such as end caps and glazed tiles to replace the broken ones. Another plus was that Melvin was on time and explained the entire process. The job was scheduled and the crew showed up exactly at 6am as promised. Not a minute late. While the workers did not speak English the job site foreman, Eric, showed up the same day to introduce himself and assure us he would be inspected the job daily as it progressed. He provided his contact number if we had any concerns or questions. The crew cleaned up everyday and no debris was left other than a few nails but nothing that could not be picked up with one hand. I work in association management and work with many trade contractors who fail to show up on time, communicate, or complete the job in a timely manner. Monsoon Roofing exceeded all these areas and I would highly recommend them to all my neighbors. Thanks Melvin and Eric for everything.

I had inquired from four different roofing companies in the Phoenix Arizona area to receive estimates to re-roof our 23 year old homes S shape tiled roof with either reusing the existing tile and replacing broken tiles or to use an entirely different design new tiles. I concluded the estimates and work performed for the price best fit our needs with Monsoon Roofing. From the beginning with the estimate by the owner, Melvin M[redacted] to the scheduling, to actual project start and completion, I realized I made the correct choice. Although it was recommended that the present tile was still in good shape and reusable after removal and repairing any rotted plywood, trim fascia, etc, my wife and I decided to go with a new more modern look with flat tile. We are extremely happy with the results. The repair of all wood was excellent. The company replaced 8 plywood sheets and numerous trim wood that had become rotted over the past 23 years. They repainted as part of the project. TU-34 two layer underlay was used which other estimates told us would be additional charge Other estimates also said the wood repair would be extra and required them to contract out. Not with Monsoon roofing. From start to finish the project took five days Monday thru Friday as projected. A foreman was on location everyday with the crew of workers and supervisors and the owner stopped by everyday to check on progress and answer any of our questions. The crew cleaned up at the end of each day leaving the area spotless. The attention to detail and diligence of the work crew, supervision and owner was extremely beyond reproach. We have already received compliments from neighbors that our home looks like new. I highly recommend this company for consideration of other consumers.

We used Monsoon Roofing after another roofing company failed to fix a leak in our roof after 3 paid visits. Monsoon Roofing fixed our roof correctly the first time and for a fair price. More importantly, [redacted] explained in detail what was wrong and gave us several options as to how to fix it. We used them a second time to fix a leak in the back patio and were very pleased with this fix as well

This is a great company with a great owner. All of his employees were respectful while fixing our roof. I have recommended their services to several friends and neighbors because they have just been so pleasant to work with. Quality worksmanship for a fair price.

Melvin, the owner, gave us his estimate for the re-roofing of our tile roof. After obtaining at least three quotes, we found that Melvin gave us a fair and honest quote. As an expert roofer himself, he answered all our questions knowledgeably and erased all concerns. The roofing team who did the re-roofing are, without a doubt, professional roofers. Their work was so impressive that a neighbor used them and is completely satisfied. We are extremely pleased with their work and thoroughly recommend Monsoon Roofing.

One of the best experiences we have ever had with a business. They go way above and beyond!

We had several major storms during the roofing process and they work help up perfectly.

I offer the strongest possible recommendation!

We are extremely pleased with the quality of service that we received from Monsoon Roofing and its owner, [redacted]. He was very fair in his pricing for our roof repair, and even provided extra services and additional materials for which he didn't charge. We highly recommend Monsoon Roofing to anyone who needs a roof repair, or complete new roof.
