Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
First of all, no "string of obscenities" was unleashed upon Mr. G[redacted].  I did call the building a "piece of s[redacted]," because frankly, it is.  I did not insult or curse at him.  I did not mention the state of the building in my letter of intent to leave because I hastily met with the property manager before I needed to leave for work, and I thought it would be much faster to just write that I was moving than to go into everything I have previously described to the Revdex.com.  If I had known I would be charged for these things, I would have taken the time to properly document them.  It is also illogical that there are additional painting and cleaning charges because someone leaves early.  If anything, there should be less than if someone stays the full year because there is less time to cause damage or wear-and-tear.  By Mr. G[redacted]'s logic, he would have still have charged for cleaning and painting whether one leaves in December or March.  This brings me to my final point of wondering what damages were actually done to the apartment.  After the initial bill of charges, the brief phone call, and the response to this Revdex.com complaint, I STILL have not been told details of how I so drastically hurt the paint on the walls or dirtied the apartment.  I know the apartment was as least as clean when I left it as when I moved in because my mother and I cleaned it for several hours.  As for the painting, if there's a scuff mark on the wall from where a mattress rubs against it, use a [redacted].  Painting is not necessary.  I'll send Mr. G[redacted] a box of those before I send him $100 just for painting.  A gallon of paint is about $30 or so, at most.  Even if you used an entire gallon and added in labor costs, it would not equal $100.  I lived there for less than a year.  I am a quiet, clean, and responsible adult.  I do not have children or pets.  I never once even had people over for a so much as a small get together, let alone a party.  I have lived in several apartments before Mont Michel, and never once have I been charged extra fees for cleaning or painting.  If Mr. G[redacted] can give me a detailed report of every square inch of that unit that was cleaned and painted, I will consider paying the $210 or a portion of it if I come to believe I caused damage or dirtied it.  Until then, I will not be paying him.
Regards,
[redacted]

Michel Apartments. The complainant, [redacted], failed to fulfill the terms of his rental agreement. He vacated 3% months early and did not give the required 30 day notice. Shortly thereafter I sent him a letter explaining why he was forfeiting his deposit and detailing items for which he was being charged. When a tenant fulfills his agreement we do not charge for “normal” cleaning or painting. However, when one breaks the agreement and moves out early we do, since these costs are additional and unanticipated. When I returned [redacted]’s call, I did not rudely ask him what he wanted. I merely identified myself and asked him “what can I do for you?” After he expressed his disappointment at the charges, I explained to him that there are consequences in life for breaking agreements. He accused me of trying to gouge him even though we were now collecting rent from a new tenant. The fact is the apartment is sitting empty so we have lost one month’s rent at a minimum, but even were it already rented, this would have nothing to do with what he owes.[redacted] then proceeded to tell me how horrible Mont Michel is. I did hang up, but not because of that.[redacted] conveniently neglected to mention the string of obscenities he unleashed at me. That is when I hung up.Enclosed is a copy of [redacted]’s “notice of intent to vacate”. As you can see, his stated reason is“moving to a new neighborhood”. Not only is there no mention of any problems or complaints with Mont Michel, but according to the resident manager, there was never a complaint. As I stated to [redacted] in our phone conversation, there are consequences to breaking the agreement and moving out early. There are also consequences when someone starts cursing at me. I hang up.Yours Truly,Ronald G[redacted]President
