Montage Apartments Reviews (5)

We lived there for 4 years, in that time we saw management change about 4 or 5 times, we saw security go down the toilet, we had our rent going through the roof and the facilities steadily degrading. When we left, we had to pay almost 500 even after repainting and deep cleaning everything; they truly ignore what is right in front of them and "work" you to steal every last cent they can. I didn't feel any more secure there than in my new apartment which is 500 cheaper!

Review: Rude customer service, failure to communicate with me. I continuously call with no returned calls or answers.

I went to visit Montage apartments they were really helpful in showing me the apartment, I signed the paperwork to go forward with a credit check and I planned on moving in that following weekend. No one ever called me and when I called no one answered and when someone did she was unable to check on the status of my application. I had to personally drive down to the apartment complex and they were able to pull my information up at that point. The paperwork hadnt gone through completely at that time and should of been going through early the following week but I recieved no phone calls when I was approved and when I called no one answered again. I called again this weeek to see where my application stands, they are waiting on confirmation that I had rental history, and if they didnt get it they would just add on an extra charge for my deposit, I told them to go ahead with the charge just to process the paperwork quicker. Shortly after I got off the phone I called my previous apartment for my rental history but I am awaiting a phone call from their manager who was in a meeting. Then I get my first call back from Montage from [redacted] who was yelling at me because I didnt have the rental history paperwork and threatening to deny my application because she didnt have the paperwork. I told her how I reached out to the previous apartment complex and I am just waiting to hear back from a manger and I told her how I was going to drive to the old apartment to get the rental history for them, but I would like her to just process my application without the rental history. She continuously yelled at me saying she was going to deny my application when I was just informing her that I was okay with paying the little extra for a deposit if it helped me get into the apartment. This company has been a [redacted] wind of an experience and I cannot believe how the staff can be so rude to someone trying to move in and give them money. Desired Settlement: I placed a deposit of $40 down for this apartment complex but with their poor customer service and failure to communicate I want my money back so I can find a new place to live with better staff.

The applicant [redacted] applied for an apartment on 7/1/13 at 12pm. We explained to her that per our rental criteria, we would need her to submit her 2 most recent pay statements or proof of income with 24 hours of submitting her application and that we would also need to collect information for her current and past rental history. Per our rental criteria, all applicants must make 2.5 times the monthly market rental rate and also have good verifiable rental history. We also have a 3rd party complete a back ground check that can take up to 5 days to complete. On 7/3/13 we called [redacted] and told her that we still had not received her proof of income and that we were having a difficult time obtaining her rental history from [redacted] We asked her to please bring in her pay statements and contact [redacted] to let them know that they were holding up the approval process for her application. She said ok and asked what the staus of her application was and we told her that it was still pending due to not having the required information from her. We also told her that we were still waiting on the background check to be reported. She said ok and said that she would bring her pay statements the following day 7/4/13. We received her pay statements 7/4/13. We called University Village on the following additional days 7/5, 7/6, 7/8, 7/10, 7/11, 7/13 and also informed [redacted] of our inability to verify her rental history. We also left several messages for [redacted] to call us and our calls were not returned. On 7/11, we aksed [redacted] to go to [redacted] and ask for a copy of her ledger that would show her occupancy dates and payment history. She requested a higher security deposit be charged since we were unable to verify residency however per our guidelines, we need to verify rental history. Due to the length of time that we had been waiting on the proof of rental history and several promises made by [redacted] to get it for us, we declined her appliaction to rent. We made every effort to get her approved as that is our main objective to rent and help people find new homes. We also gave her a few extra days to obtain informantion that we require from all applicants and she was not able to do so. Per the Reservation Agreement and Appliaction and Deposit Receipt, application fees are not refundable.

Review: On 9/4/14 my roommates and I viewed a specific apartment plan at this location. On the same day we filled the paperwork out for that same model and I notified their office staff that it would be most likely 9/8 that I would be able to scan & email or bring in needed documents to finish application. We placed a holding deposit and application fees for a specific model on 9/5. On 9/6 we were told we would get a different apartment model than the one listed on the reservation agreement contract. On 9/8 I submitted the paperwork as agreed via email as scanned PDFs as we were told we could do. On 9/9 my roommates and I had decided that with the sudden deviation by office staff from the Reservation Agreement to a smaller apartment model that we were not interested in renting an apartment with Montage and wanted to terminate the application proccess. We called and left a message on 9/9 and received no response. We called on 9/10 and a office staff who refused to identify themselves said they "didn't do leases" and to call back at closing. On 9/10/14 again we called and were told we could not get our holding deposit back due to it was "too late." My roommate asked for a manager and the Office Staff said the manager would call us back immediately. As of 9/12 we have not received any communications since we contacted their office on 9/10. Reservation Agreement states the following regarding the Holding deposit: "The Holding Deposit of $100.00 is nonrefundable after 72 hours of submission. Once your application has been approved, you have 24 hours from the time of approval/approval with conditions, notification to accept conditions of approval to be REFUNDED your holding deposit only." Due to we attempted to contact your office and left a message on 9/9/2014 which was in the time limit of 3 business days for the original agreement, we would like our Holding Deposit back. Not to mention, we put a holding deposit down for one model not for a completely different apartment home.Desired Settlement: We just want our holding deposit of $100 back due to Montage's staff sudden deviation from the signed Reservation Agreement for a specific apartment home. There should have been a new reservation agreement signed by all parties involved on 9/8 (Monday). Not to mention we began to attempt termination of the application to get our holding deposit on 9/9/14 which was within 3 business days of the signing of the contract which was signed by One of my roommates on 9/5.

Response:

We were never notified by the applicant that she wanted her holding deposit returned or refunded. If he/she would have called the Leasing Office and requested it be returned, we would have taken into consideration any issues that he/she may have during the application process. We would be happy to refund the $100 holding deposit.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is somewhat satisfactory to me. In our defense and evidence of call records, the statements made by the Montage employee responding to this compliant prior to the statement of offering us our 100.00 deposit back were completely false and untrue. We called numerous times as stated in our original complaint. My roommate, [redacted] told the office worker ([redacted]?) over the phone that we wanted our deposit back and she said we could not get it back no matter what.

We request the business to contact us and make arrangements for us to get our $100 holding deposit back.

I have all our paperwork still from montage. and also they don't care about any 1s safty or health there pools are green and they have a lot of black mold in all most all the apts and the pool bathrooms hardly ever get cleaned there so gross!Desired Settlement: I would like the adishanal $218s that they are trying to keep my husband and I were forced to move out of there and there allowing the people that have lived there for years there kicking them all out for no reason and wont give a real reason and even though I got most of my deposit back my husband and I feel and deserve to have the $218 that is on the paperwork that is credited to. we got our new place on july 20th 2014 and we gave them there keys back on the 21st

Review: My wife and I moved into the montage apartments as an interim time in our lives because we just got married and we were looking to purchase a home. We finally found a house that we liked so we moved out on march 31 2015. My wife and I went throughout the entire apartment painted, repaired small things (cabinet hinges, etc) and my mother in law, in which whom is a professional cleaner, came and cleaned the apartment with my wife. I get home today from work at our new house and come to find out instead of recieving our security dep back, we got a bill for $430.00.my complaint is after all that work they charged us a cleaning fee, painting fee, carpet fee. We understand that the carpets needed to be cleaned but the repair in the front entry was charged to us. but we put that on our move in checklist that it was unravaling, yet we still got charged. please contact me ASAP. I am not a very happy tenant.Desired Settlement: I don't want to be charge for a service that we never should have been charged in the first place.

To whom it may concern,This letter is response to the complaint dated April 16, 2015 with reference to ID 10582317.Please note that I received the notice of complaint on April 27, 2015 and this was the soonest that I was able to respond I apologize for any delay.1. Cleaning, painting and carpet cleaning charges are determined upon move out. We have no verifiable proof that the apartment was professionally cleaned by a 3rd party vendor prior to our cleaning company doing the work.2. The Move In Condition form was carefully reviewed and there is no indication the carpet damage in the living room entryway was there upon move in. On the checklist, Living Room Carpet Condition is listed as "ok" and signed by both Mr. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted].I hope this response is sufficient however; if you should require additional information, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at 916.722.3898 or by email at [redacted]Kind regards,[redacted]Property ManagerMontage Apartments
