Montana Jerky Company

The owner of this business is not customer oriented, it seems his only goal is to make money. We purchased his product for many years from a local distributor and were very pleased with the jerky we bought. Unfortunately, the distributor went out of business several years ago. We found the Montana Jerky Company online and, with great anticipation, purchased five packages of jerky. When the package arrived, we opened the first one to find the product dry, stale, and inedible. We opened the next package and it just tasted bad. It was greasy, tough, and had a strange taste - not the teriyaki flavor we'd once loved.
I called the company to complain and was told the owner was out of town but would return my call the next day. I never received a phone call from them so called again today to speak to the owner.
The owner was gruff and spoke over me on the phone. He told me that no one had ever complained about his jerky and then boasted about all his new accounts. He was incredulous that I wanted a refund and refused to refund my money. I offered to return the product and he said that if I did and he "determined there was something wrong with it" then, and only then, would he refund my money. If the return was simply because I didn’t like it, he felt no obligation to refund the purchase price. He actually accused me of eating all his jerky and THEN calling to get my money back. What a sad comment to his estimation of his customers.
This gentleman does not run his business in a manner that is inviting to customers. He does not hold with a satisfaction-guaranteed philosophy. You get what you get. He couldn't believe that I wanted my money back "just because I didn't like it". He told me no company would provide a refund just because the customer was dissatisfied.
The jerky we recently purchased was not good, and certainly was not in the same league as that we'd purchased in years past. I am sending the product back to him (more money out of my pocket), not because I believe I will receive a refund, but only to show him that not every customer loves his jerky and not everyone in this world is a cheat and/or a liar.
The owner was rude, arrogant, and a poor representative of a family-owned business. I would not recommend his product to anyone, nor would I recommend doing business with this company.
