Review: I am filing a complaint with the Revdex.com because Montclair Family Dentistry was misleading about the services they provided and how these services would be covered by my insurance, which considered this dentist's office an in-network provider. I was given no opportunity to be shown a cost estimate to show that the only type of fillings they offer at this office would not be covered in full by my insurance. A very small portion for the composite fillings is covered by insurance for certain teeth( where I had the work done). The insurance company will cover most of the cost for amalgam fillings...which are not even offered by the dentist. I was never made aware of this prior to the service. Another issue is that at the time of service, they acted as if I only owed the same amount as if my fillings had been covered 90%--like the amalgam ones. Once again, I was never made aware the fact that I had "chosen" to receive fillings for which my insurance company would not pay the majority of cost. Six months following the time of service, I received a bill in the mail from the dentist office charging me the rest of the amount for the more expensive fillings. The receptionist I talked to at the office was rude and short and offered no help or explanation besides explaining that amalgam fillings were not even an option at the office. The insurance company said the dentist's office had not even sent the insurance information to them until the end of April, which means it was sitting in the office for four months.Desired Settlement: I would like the charges to be waived because I was never made aware that I did not have the option to have a cheaper service done elsewhere.

I am rejecting this response because: Although Montclair Family Dentistry is saying they allegedly showed me the cost proposal for the services, I was NOT told that these filling would be more expensive under my insurance. I think it is an example of extremely poor customer service that they would "show" me a cost proposal but neglect to tell me that something is more expensive. Just showing a piece of paper to the client is ridiculous. I am a client, not well-versed and knowledgeable about dentistry terms and insurance. If they show you a cost proposal, they should sit down with the patient and explain what each piece is, not just gloss over it and then expect me to play dumb and pay more money when they ask. I am not even sure if the dentist office knew that these fillings would be more expensive at the time of service because I was only charged the regular amount for fillings. I think the dentist office discovered that it was more expensive post facto and then tried to push the charges off onto me. This could be a logical reason why I did not receive a bill until five months later. I realize they made a mistake with their customer service practices and the correct thing to do as a good business would be to waive the charges as their way of saying mea culpa. This is an issue between the insurance company and the dentist's office as far as I am concerned. I will not be paying Montclair Family Dentistry for the charges they say I owe.
