Customer came to Monte's Auto Repair for a quote to install a water pump on a Cadillac DevilleAn agreed price of $for "LABOR" only on a "CUSTOMER SUPPLIED PART"In addition to a gallon of coolant for $from usWe don't judge vehicles as all we do is fix them but this vehicle has seen its better daysThe first thing that happened to my Technician when bringing in the Cadillac is the steering column fell into his lap.Technician didn't think nothing of it but just another vehicle that additional problemsCustomer was aware that column was broke prior to bring inIt moves up and down around and aroundWater pump job was performed and went as expectedWhen it was time to start the car to bleed the system, we were unable to because vehicle would not startNOW, water pump is in the engine compartment and is part of the cooling systemUpon restarting, there was signs it was a security issue with the keyWe donated about a hour and a half of our time to try different thingsThere is vital wires in the steering column including wires for the securityWith the steering wheel wobbling all over the place(have pictures and video) were assuming when it fell into my technician's lap something must have occurredIn no way shape or form, we should be held responsible for thisWe did exactly what we were ask to performIts unfortunate there was additional issues with this vehicle and it just so happened occur on our watch but certainly had nothing to do with the Water pumpAnother note is that their was a used "junkyard" battery bought that had been determined to have a "bad Cell" which can mess with the electronics of the systemAll send and done we notified customer of the additional issues the car has and told him that these would need to be done in order to do the bleedingWe notified customer that we are not lock smiths, can program keys or deal with security issuesSuggested bring it to dealer or have locksmith give a shot at itAs you can see in the form, we had him sign off because why would a shop be responsible for the customers diagnostic or partCustomer refused to pay for the job performed as requestedAt that point we notified customer that storage will occur after days and that this vehicle is your responsibility to pay and removeThree weeks later Monte's Auto notified him of the $bill with storageWe told him that the vehicle must be paid within days or it will be considered abandonedWe then will exercise our rights to pay bill offHe was notified that it would be smart to pay the bill, remove vehicle so he was not responsible for any storageThen can proceed to take us to small claims if he so desires to
