We provided pool construction services for Vance @ Montgomery Custom Pools. Work was performed, home owner satisfied, everything seemed great until it came time for Vance to pay the invoice. After multiple calls answered and unanswered, we contacted the home owner to advice Vance @ Montgomery Custom Pools had not paid us. We continued to try and collect but Vance kept saying he could not pay us due to his daughter being really il'l and in the hospital. Same response was received after every call. He would get upset for us trying to collect our money and even used the PITTY card to try to get us to cancel our invoice as a GOOD cause. It's a shame how someone can use their childs illness as an excuse NOT to pay. We as a business that tries to work with our customers decided to turn it into small claims and just stop calling. Five years later, our receptionist erroneously contacts him( not knowing he owed us) offering our services. Vance tries to request a new service, hoping by this time, invoice was had just been forgotten. With all courtesy we advised we couldn't not perform the job since a past due invoice was due. He first claimed it was not him and other builders were doing pools under his name. We provided invoices, then he confirmed it was HIM and provided copy of some PAID checks. Everything again was going well until we came to the invoice that was NOT PAID. He then started using his daughters illness again, and stated he paid a lot of his builders CASH stating he had +30 years experience and had a excellent reputation. When asked for a PAID receipt, he insinuated maybe one of our partners had taken the cash and not made it know to the company. Asked him for a PAID receipt again, but continued to use his arrogance to put make believe invoice was PAID and put in on our side of the court. Its incredible how a +30 years builder does not keep copy of his cash PAID receipts?? Any how, leasson learned never to do business Vance at Montgomery Custom Pools, he is liar, does not pay and the saddest part, uses his daughters illness for his benefit. Sad.
