September 17, 2017To Whom it May Concern, This is in response to the complaint made on August 18, 2017. When our office called the family’s insurance company, we were told (twice) that we were in network with their particular planWhen the family came in, all financial policies were
signed by the family indicating that the patient understood they were responsible for anything the insurance did not payOnce the claims were submitted to the insurance, we received an explanation of benefits that stated that we were not in networkThe family called and asked why they were told that we were in networkWe referred them back to their insurance company since we were also told that our office was in network with their insuranceWe also received a faxed breakdown indicating 100% coverage for their initial exams and cleanings for providers who are in network as well as out of network. On June 6, the family called with a representative from the insurance company on a conference call with our office managerThey asked the representative why they were told we were in network with them when we really were notThe representative stated that someone gave us the wrong information and that the family could submit an appeal to the insurance company regarding this issue. After this conversation, there was no communication with us from this family whether they were going to appeal to their insurance company or notBecause they did have a balance on their account, the automated billing letters went out at 30,60, and days. On August 1, the wife from the family called and stated she received the day letter but was not going to pay the billIt was explained to the patient that because the bill was days past due with no updates from the insurance company or patient, the bill would be sent to collections. On August 29, 2017, the patient called back and paid off her balance in full. Regards, Tiffany T
