Monty's Manufactured Homes Reviews (6)

Monty's sold us a new 2019 16x80 home they had set up in *** Mobile Home Park in early
summer of this year running the AC unit for showing the home to cus***ers. We closed on the
purchase and moved into the home 9/4/2019. On 9/17/19 we noticed a small water spot at the
underpinning by the front steps. When going under the trailer there was large amounts of water on
the concrete and water pouring out of the insulation wrapping. We immediately sent the video and
requested a technician to come out. On 9/19/19 Monty's sent a technician *** who found the AC
condensation line was connected wrong. He fixed the line and told us that was the 3rd one that
week. We had to point out the water damage on the walls, warped floor, and saturated insulation
under the trailer. We also sent pictures to Steve Ballard and requested the damage be corrected. He
said he would have a technician come out. On 9/24/19 a Monty's replaced the drywall in the hall that
had visible mold and the AC unit wall drywall that also had visible mold. *** (Technician) told me
he would need to order flooring and would be back. He noted on a walk-thru checklist that floor was
damaged, sheet rock needed to be replaced and insulation under trailer needed to be replaced (copy
available). On 9/30/19 my husband, ***, contacted Monty's to find out when they would be
back to fix the damage and replace the wet saturated insulation. He was told they were waiting on
vinyl and that *** checked the insulation under the trailer and it was fine (*** never went under
the trailer on 9/24/19). On 10/8/19 we were contacted that a technician would be at the home on
10/10/19 to work on the damage. On 10/10/19 no one showed up or called. Morning of 10/11/19
contacted ***, Owner, and left a message regarding the situation and requested a return
call. To date he has not contacted us. On 10/13/19 we had a contractor come look at the home to
assess the damage ***. *** informed 3/4 of the hallway, the baby's room, and utility area
have major water damage and mold that will continue to get worse and move further through the
home if not addressed. He recommended contacting a mold specialist for testing. We had to leave
the home that day for safety purposes until mold testing could be completed. On 10/14/19 we
contacted *** (Monty's technician) to find out if he had made *** aware of the situation.
He said he did and he would check with *** to see why we have not been contacted. We still
have not heard anything from them. On 10/15/19 ***, Mold Specialist, ran mold and
moisture testing in the home. Today, 10/16/19 testing was received. *** stated the mold
levels currently are still safe but the level of moisture in the home shows the damage has been going
on longer than we have owned the home and that it needs to be addressed immediately before mold

Please see the attached letter to the Office of the Attorney General. I believe since this is a legal matter it should be removed from this site.

Customer Response • Oct 25, 2019

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

The response does not address any of the initial concerns addressed. A filed complaint with the Attorney General does not make the situation a legal matter. The inspection request/consumer complaint was filed with the Missouri Public Service Commission as required by the sales agreement with Monty's Manufactured Homes. In speaking with ***, Inspector with the Missouri Public Service Commission, he will be completing an inspection of the home on October 31, 2019 at 10 am to make a list of all damages and determine the level of damage. He explained that he does not make recommendations for resolution in regards to replacement or repairs. He stated that his division is set up to inspect homes and provide a report of what is wrong with the home and provide inspection of the home if and repairs are done to the home but there would be no resolution come from his inspection as that is between the homeowner and business or manufacture that sold the home.

The initial, and standing concerns, are we signed paperwork to purchase a brand new home, we signed a mortgage for a brand new home, and we were given a water/mold damaged home. We have been unable to live in the home since October 13, 2019 due to the safety concerns of the mold and moisture damage in the home. Our 10 month old son has recently had health issues we believe are related to the unsafe conditions of the home due to the fact that he has had no issues since we have moved out of the home.

Sincerely

We paid for a double-wide manufactured home on 8/9/18 in the amount of $56,862.93. We received the double-wide last Wednesday but it is the demo and has several things wrong with it. We were not told we would be receiving the demo at purchase we were told our NEW home was wrapped up to ship to us. We asked for some of our money back as we paid for a brand new home but received a used one. We feel betrayed. We were told that Mr. Farrell would only give us $1,000 off.

home was delivered and set on September 18 and 19th. As agreed, *** notified us when their contractors had completed their utilities installation. We scheduled our contractors to install the central air on September 27th. We further scheduled our crews to complete the setup on Sept 27th and Sept 29th. At that time *** along with our contractor composed a detailed "punch list" of items they wanted addressed. Many items were addressed and repaired to *** satisfaction on Sept. 27th as well as on Sept. 29th. There are a few items still to be addressed. We must now wait for parts to be shipped from the factory. At that time we will reschedule and address issues remaining.

In regard to the issue of *** feeling the home they received is used.. is with all due respect, inaccurate. The home is indeed a New Home that has NEVER been delivered or titled to anyone other than ***. I understand there is still some confusion. We intend to discuss in person with *** and hope to address their concerns.

We can understand a customers frustration when it comes to delivery dates. When MS. [redacted] purchased her home it was explained in writing that our current delivery schedule is 6-8 weeks from final site inspection. This is always weather permitting. The site work was not completed properly upon each...

inspection. There was no backfilling done and the water was running towards the pad. This is also something addressed in writing during a home purchase. In addition the weather did not cooperate this winter, rain causes a hindrance when it comes to deliveries. We got a daty when it finally froze good and delivered the home. We let Ms. [redacted] know it would be set up that day we were wanting to get in on her property while the ground was frozen. While I can sympathize with customers personal situation, the delivery time frame was discussed up front.regarding the service issues, each time I have had word of any service issues, it has been addressed. The service and warranty of a home is the responsibility of the manufacturer, we do help facilitate the service work, but it is the responsibility of the manufactured. I will be happy to discuss any service issues and get them address in a swift fashion.

This home has been delivered, setup, and AC installed as agreed upon the contract.

The service I received from this business has been very unprofessional and unpleasant. I completely understand that there are going to be some frustrations with a home buying experience as this is not my first time buying a home. This place however has be very rude, and unprofessional every step of the way. They "lost" my closing documents and I had to resign them. This not only is an inconvenience it is a violation of privacy laws; since my social security number and personal information is out there for anyone to potentially find. They have not been very forthcoming with information in regards to the entire process I have been given the run around constantly by this business. They have yet to send out the person that is supposed to inspect the home for any damages that need to be fixed. It has been almost 2months since I have received my home and by the contract it states that I have 45 days from delivery to file any reports of any damages that need to be repaired or they wont be fixed. I would definitely not recommend this business.

We order trailer at end of April to be put on a concrete slab. After ordering the trailer and it come in we was told that IL Hud does not approve concrete slab for double wides in state of IL. They delivery our home stated that it could not be put together until it was approved by IL hud. Finnally approved but still no house together. My house was supposed to be setup by first of june. It is Aug 14 and still house not together. The guy at Monty's that we was dealing with no longer workers there but I was told it would only take a couple day to setup my house. I have been living in a small camper for 3 months and my 16 year old daughter has been living with her aunt. I made 2 house payment for house not living in.
