Car was towed from visitor parking and the person in the office of [redacted] was very rude about it.On Thursday March 6, 2014 my car was towed from the parking lot in [redacted] Apartment complex. My sister has been living here since May 2012 and there has never been towing before but the complex new owners have decided that they are going to require parking passes. They did not inform the residents; I know because my sister's car was also towed on February 24, 2014. The office manager who would not provide me with her name was extremely rude on both occasions. When my sister's car was towed she said that rather than informing tenants about the new parking regulations she would continue to tow people's cars until people went to the office for parking passes. She also could not provide a copy of an email or memo that was delivered to the tenants informing them about the new parking regulations. My sister asked the woman about visitor parking and when towing started. The woman in the office stated that visitors are only allowed to park up to three days a week and towing started after close of business each day. With that information I parked in the parking lot of [redacted] on March 6th and my car was towed at approximately 3pm. When I called the office the same woman who had told my sister and I parking would not be enforced until close of business told me that the policy had changed as of March 6th and that towing was now being enforced 24/7. When I asked how I could be responsible for knowing that the parking policy had changed yet again she became very loud and irate. She did not seem to care about the information that she had personally provided me just one week prior and she seemed to take joy in the fact that my car had been towed by laughing and saying that because I am a visitor she no longer had to speak with me. I hung up the phone with her after getting the number for the towing company and had to pay $100 to get my car back. My sister and I looked over the lease and there is nowhere in it that says towing will be enforced without a parking sticker. Therefore, the fact that both of our cars were towed and the office manager was unnecessarily rude on both occasions is not acceptable to me.Desired SettlementBecause the apartment manager told both my sister and I that towing was not enforced until after business hours and because there was no written notification of the parking changes in this neighborhood. I would like a refund for the amount of the tow in $100.
