Moore's Electrical & Mechanical Construction, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: We initially received a verbal quote that the installation of our 3-compartment sink and grease trap would take "one person a few hours one evening" to install. In other words, it was clarified that it would be billed by the job and not as an hourly rate. When Moore's called about setting up the appointment, they set it up for one morning. Just before that appointment, we were told and that another individual would be coming out instead of the originally schedule person due to a family emergency. When that individual arrived, it took him 3 days to complete the project. He also called in another person to help. They left multiple time to gets parts and had little knowledge of how to properly install the grease trap per the county standards. In addition, we encountered unfortunate moments such as him knot knowing what the word "optimal" meant. He was reading the product manual and calling Canada to try and learn how to install it, while at the same time, making reference to other grease traps that he had installed. We even invited a county representative in for guidance. The individual also made reference multiple times to the fact that he had a temporary/new truck that was missing many items he needed. As a result, he was leaving more times than he believed he should to gets parts that he should've had available on his truck. With all the issues that seemed to be arising, we mentioned that we were glad this was a paid by the job ticket. The worker agreed. At the completion of the project, one faucet still did not work properly. He came back and claimed it to be a bad seal. To highlight the continuum of miscommunication, on the day he came back he was late arriving. He mentioned that he had been booked to come to our business in [redacted] and go to [redacted] at the same time.

When the invoice was received, it was for approximately $2000.00! We called the company and were told they accidentally charged us overtime. When we inquired about the charge also including multiple people over a 3 day period, the situation had to be researched. They came back with a new invoice of $1200. Meanwhile, we had done research to suggest that $600-$700 would be a reasonable price to expect to pay. Because we had already purchased the sink, faucet, and grease trap, there were few parts that Moore's should have needed to purchase. After multiple attempts at rectifying the situation, we have been told that legal action may be taken upon us if we do not pay.Desired Settlement: We're seeking assistance from the Revdex.com to act as a mediator and rectify this situation. We have not filed a complaint before, but as new business owners, we find it difficult to let something this significant "slide under the rug." Our invoice is too high for a job that was completed in poor fashion and in strong contradiction to the original quote. We have a goal to make right with our fellow business members. We are seeking a fair invoice in the amount of $600-700. Thanks in advance for your help.

Business

Response:

At Moore's, we strive to satisfy every customer that we work for. Unfortunately, sometimes things to not go as planned on a job that results in additional time spent to rectify the situation. In looking into the what has transpired, I have found out that the manager responsible for this job had already issued a credit of $977.50 due to several reasons. Unfortunately, even after this credit, this new invoice amount has not met the expectations of our customer. Therefore, we have reached out to them and are planning to sit down with them face to face next week to work through to a resolution.

Consumer

Response:

We have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted]. We were issued a credit for $977.50 when the company realized they accidentally charged us overtime. They also shaved the number of hours worked to 12 hours. Recalling that the initial time frame suggested was a portion of one evening, we find twelve hours to still be excessive. Additionally, the "unplanned" events encountered were their unsupplied truck and a worker that was not trained in how to install the equipment. Our hope is that a proper resolution may be obtained on Thursday, Oct. 15th. Since our submission with the Revdex.com, Moore's Vice President has called us and set up a meeting on this day to discuss a possible resolution. We very much look forward to this meeting and appreciate the efforts you have made to make it happen. We will keep you posted as to the results of this meeting.
