Complaint[redacted] with "rebuilit" Transmission that broke in 1.5 K miles. Warrentee was notnot honored.[redacted] purchased with a "rebuilt/replaced transmission". Transmission broke with in 1.5K miles out of town. Transmission had a 6 month warrentee that covered $1200. We we assured that this coverage would be good anywhere in the country. Transmission let go 150 miles from home. Contacted the warrentee company to open a claim. Turns out that the transmission is done and acording to the mechanic was not new or rebuilt, probally just painted the housing. Now we are responsible for the tear down to diagnosis the problem. After getting a huge $3000 estimate we called Moore's for an explaination about the alledged "rebuilt" transmission. [redacted], the salesman who assured us taht we were covered spoke with the transmission rebuilder, [redacted], they offered to replace the transmission if we got it to their shop. I assume that that is an admission of poor workmanship and or deception. In order to have this done we would have to pay the initial repair shop for the tear down, repolacement fees and have the car towed 150 miles. This would be at least $850. The warentee company origionally agrred to pay the $1200 so we decided that we would eat the difference and appeal to Moores for compensation. When the warrentee company became aware that the transmission wcould be repaired by the rebuilder the assumed that it was under a warrentee of its own and they then refused to pay the claim.Moore's motors was at the root cause of a fraudulent, deceptive reprentation of the rebuilt transmission and the portability of the warrentee. Upon speaking with the salesman he refused to do anything to satisfy what will be a $3000 bill. He said he offered to have it replaced if we could get it to the Durham shop. This appears to be a great example of everyone blaming everyone else. Please do not do any business with any of the principals in this complaint, Moore's Motors, [redacted],Desired SettlementRefund for all costs reguarding this, $3200.00Business Response In regards to this complaint, the vehicle was sold AS IS and the client was aware of the possibilities of major defects that can occur when purchasing a used vehicle of this age. When discussing the different options of a warranty, the client decided to purchase a limited liability warranty from an outside company which would cover powertrain and transmission repairs up to six months. Transmission repairs/replacement maximum coverage with this plan is $1200 of which $100 is a deductible. The transmission failed five months after Moore's Motors sold the vehicle to the client. Moore's Motors had the transmission rebuilt with a local transmission shop before the vehicle was sold. We do everything we can to make sure that our vehicles are in good, safe, working condition before they are listed for purchase. It is unfortunate that this particular vehicle had transmission problems after purchase. The main concern was that the vehicle broke down 150 miles out of town and the transmission repair shop that had done the original work is an independent shop located only in Durham, NC. The client was not able to bring the vehicle to Durham to have the local shop repair the transmission. The client contacted the outside warranty company to have the repair paid for up to $1200. There was some confusion as far as having a pre-existing warranty on the transmission which took some time to sort out. Being that the transmission shop is a locally owned and independent entity, the warranty would not be honored by any other repair shop. We went above and beyond what would be our responsibility in this matter and we were able to negotiate with the outside warranty company to pay the $1100 (client is responsible for the $100 deductible) portion of the transmission replacement.

Told I was to pay 2100 and my contract comes down to me paying 4800 on a [redacted] car with 158000 miles.I saw a car advertised by Moore's motors on [redacted] and went there to buy it. $2100 and $500 down was what the ad said. I went there and met with [redacted] who is the one who advertised it and asked to be spoken to personally when I came to inquire. Upon inspection of the car I realised that I didn't want that one and asked if there was one of comparable price and monthly payment amount as well as down payment. He directed me towards a [redacted] and I told him that I could only afford it if it was under 2000 asounds a monthly payment of no more than $150. He agreed and took my down payment of $500 and asked that I wait for the rest of the processing in the lobby. I waited for over 3hrs and while I was there read a sign on the wall that said all overpayments are final and non refundable. When I finally got called into the oofficio complete the purchase, the man told me that I would need an extra $1000 down. I protested and he told me that that is just how it has to be because of my credit. And I asked why [redacted] hadn't demanded that money. After a back and forth, I concerned because I saw no way of walking out with my $500 because of the policy posted on the wall. He then printed out a number of papers and explained the paperwork he was printing and asked me to sign in various places and finally saYing thatThey can schedule a payment plan for the remaining 1000 over 2 months. I have since made those payments with the final 250 scheduled to be paid by April 3rd. I then signed the papers only to realise later that the payments would be $275 a month and the total cost of the car had come to over $4800 for a car I was told I wwould pay 1800 for. The next day after I purchased the car, I called to inquire about the payment from [redacted] and was told he no longer worked there any more. I called a family friend who is a former chef of police to help with this and he directed me towards the nc Revdex.com.the vin is [redacted] he. Desired SettlementI would like the cost of the car reduced to the original price of 2100 negotiated and if that cannot be done, a full refund of my downpayment so I can do business with a more honest company. Business Response Mr. [redacted]as with all customers was given an opportunity to purchase this car cash but apparently that was not a capability that he had at that point in his life, so therefore he chose to finance the car.As many of us know when financing a car, house, furniture etc...there are bank fees and/or interest rates which will increase the price of the payoff. How much of an interest rate/bank fee depends on the individual's credit history/score as well as employment status and pay. These factors are totally out of our control, here at Moore's Motors, as well as any other dealerships', control. We can only do our best to try and get the customer the best results we can with the banks. That is the job of the finance manager to look at all the financial and credit facts of the customers life and fit them with a finance company that will accept those factors. In the end it is the Finance company that determine the monthly payment and installments. Which , like Mr [redacted] stated himself,he was explained with paperwork pointed out and shown to him his terms and payments. After reviewing these terms with our finance manager Mr [redacted] signed the contract and was well aware. He was also given a copy of his paper work.We here at Moore's Motors work hard to get our customers riding. The customers choose the car and we submit their information to the finance companys. The car he bought that day is a very dependable car with good mileage for the year. Mr. [redacted] seemed very satisfied until he realized the date to make his first car payment had arose and we informed him of that date when we were on the phone with him helping him with another matter. Our guess is thet he is not prepared for that date at the time, which is on the paperwork also that he signed. We strive to help our customers but let me reinterarte again the customers choose the car, the banks/finance companys choose their fees and interest rates as well as the customer's car payments.

I bought a automobile from Moore's motors on Sept.4,2014. I traded in my [redacted] & received $2000.00 towards the price of the car I was purchasing from Moore's motors. The deal was finalized, I was told I would receive the plates within 30 days & drove the car home. I paid the necessary money to motor vehicles & received the registration in the mail. I called Moore's motor to inquire about my license plates & was told the plates were there. I went to Moore's motors & went into the office & was told that I would not get my plates unless I came up with $500.00. He claimed I owed $500.00 more than 6 weeks after I drove off the lot with the car & everything was finalized. I asked why the plates came to your place of business instead of my residence where they were originally suppose to come. He reiterated the threat of no plates unless I receive $500.00. I did not argue because there were several men hanging around his office that were very intimidating by their presence and demeanor. My mother talked to the manager & was told there was just a misunderstanding, but if he did not get the $500.00 he would reposess the car & I would lose everything including the car I traded in because it was already sold.Product_Or_Service: [redacted]Account_Number:[redacted]Desired SettlementI would like my plates immediately & without any more monies given to this business. Also, I would like Moore's Motor's admonished for its obvious unscrupulous tactics of taking unfair advantage of people. Business Response The customer recvd their plates with in a timely manner. customer was upset because all tags are customers are responsible to pick up tags from Moores Motors. Customers are always advised of the 500.00 for taxes and tags to take to [redacted] to process the tags. Customer may have misunderstood how the downpayment, trade along with the taxes and tags are added and deducted. The cost of the taxes and tags were clearly explained several times to the customer.
