Moore's Roofing & Insulation, Inc. Reviews (2)

This company was very quick and informative when I called them, their pricing was better than doing it myself, and it came with a lifetime warranty against settling of the insulation for as long as I owned the home. I was sold.

They were able to schedule me in a few weeks out, called me the day before, and then called when they were 30 minutes away. Once on site they quickly surveyed the attic, had the hose up, had the can lights covered, and insulation pumped in within 30 minutes. There was a slight ammonia smell for a few days, I think the loose-fill cellulose they use has a slight amount of ammonium sulfate mixed in even though I did not get a wet-spray application, but this is not atypical for cellulose insulation as it's an extra fungistat in addition to the standard boric acid that's in the insulation. The ammonia smell lasted for approximately 4 days.

Worth noting, however, is that ammonia has a typical odor detection level of 1.2 to 1.75 ppm - and my girlfriend was unable to smell the ammonia at all. I may just have a more sensitive nose. It was by no means offputting - if you have ever use ammonia to clean that concentration of smell was far far higher than what I noticed. It's possible the tube the insulation was pumped through still had ammonium sulfate in it from a wet-fill application they had done perhaps earlier that morning or the day before, and that got transferred to the loose fill insulation I had. I'm writing about it mostly to inform a future customer that if you do experience it that ammonium sulfate is (1) not uncommon in cellulose, (2) may be left over in the tubing the insulation is pumped through, and most importantly (3) it's not really dangerous.

The main reason I would recommend this company, however, is that they went out of their way to fix a problem I had. My house was a major remodel when I purchased it, and after deciding I had no more wiring to run in the attic I knew it needed to be insulated. The problem was that my recessed lights in my kitchen were installed by my loving, but left-handed, father - and when twisting down the wire nuts using a left-handed twist the wires were not very firmly held in by the nuts.

Even though loose fill insulation is not blown in with any considerable force - there's still some force there. In the process that force knocked a neutral wire out of a wire nut, and that meant one of my lights was out. Moore's responded quickly, thinking instead that the light was overheating, and came out 2 days later to blow the insulation off that light. When they arrived, and quickly discovered there wasn't insulation contacting the light, the lead guy decided to look into the wiring itself. The lead is a licensed electrician so there was no worries there. That's when we discovered the wiring issue.

And this is why I recommend Moore's. That lead guy, Tommy, could have just said "you have an electrical problem that we didn't cause - you'll need to call an electrician." Instead he not only fixed the one light, he went back and checked every light in the series and redid the wire nuts for all of them just to make sure it was safe. Then he reapplied the covers, put the insulation back on top, and they were out. Took about 15 minutes.

Every time I called I got a quick response on the phone, a fast service, and honesty all the way through all combined with pricing that was better than I could do on my own. Honestly how much better can you ask for?

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/22) */
Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Ofc Mgr
Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX
Contact Email: [redacted]@netscape.net
In response to her claim of incorrectly installed roofing, the roof was installed correctly. The problem she is having...

has nothing to do with the roof's installation. After the seven inches of rain and storms we had, [redacted] met with her AAA adjuster and found the only water in the house was coming from skylight lenses and coming through the rock at the foundation of the house.
She has filed several claims against her insurance company, another roofing company, tried to file a claim against our auto policy and now our liability insurance company. She is being denied these claims because she has not used any of the claim checks for repairs to damage done before we ever got there. According to our insurance company, AAA paid her first claim for storm damage (not a faulty roof) and denied her second claim since no repairs had been made.
This situation is now in the hands of our insurance company.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/08/31) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
My insurance company (AAA) says that Moore's Roofing did not install my roof correctly and they will not pay for damages due to the fault of the roof installer. I agree that he did not install the areas around the skylights correctly, and although water did come in because of this, water also ran into rooms that do not have skylights and in other places where the stains from the skylights did not connect to other damaged areas.
Although I do not believe when I cash a check from my insurance company is any of his business, I will state that this was a small check from my 1st claim to cover wind damage something over $1000 to fix my fence and windows, which I have done.
I filled 2 claims because my insurance company required me to do so, because after the wind damage, heavy rains hit Moore, water run in throughout my home and garage doing all kinds of damage to my property. [redacted] was invited to come out and be shown by a AAA adjuster what was wrong with the installation and he did not show up. My agent has called him and told him that they will not pay anything toward repairs because of faulty installation and will not cover me for any damage until this roof is torn off and replaced with and acceptable roof. Because of this and Moore's Roofing and Insulation failure to make any efforts to help with the damages, I called Farmers Commercial Insurance, which I had been told was his Liability Co.& was told that they only covered his company vehicles. AAA called me and told me his correct liability co. and I filed a claim with them.
Again my insurance will not cover any damage due to Moore's Roofing and I have app. $28000 in damages and a worthless roof. Please feel to contact AAA at XXX-XXX-XXXX for conformation of the details that I have stated.
I want my roof replaced with one that is approved by AAA and compensation for my damages so that they can be repaired. This roof was warrantied for 15 more years. I want him to make good on his warranty.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/09/10) */
As we stated before, this matter has been turned over to our insurance company and we will abide by their decision once made. Please note, in response to saying we were a no show to meeting with the second AAA adjuster, they nor the homeowner ever called us with a time and date to meet. As for the warranty statements, the material warranty would be for fifteen years, but the labor warranty would be for five.
