On Jan28th the service manager inspected the damaged driver's seatbelt and suspected the customer's dogs had caused the issue (see attached photos) but rather than accusing of such went ahead and replaced the seat belt as a token of
goodwillThe customer returned Mar8th again with a damaged drivers seat beltOn this occasion the service manager suggested the damage was due to animal biting/gnawingThe customer stated her dogs never chew anythingIncluded are pictures of the damaged seat belt along with a picture of bite marks on the rear of the front passenger head rest coverAmerican Honda's warranty will not cover damage to components from an outside sourceWhen the customer contacted American Honda Customer Service they suggested that the customer take the vehicle to another Honda dealer for a second opinionWe have no way of knowing if said customer acted on that suggestion

I did take my car to a 2nd and a 3rd repair place one of them being a Honda dealershipNeither place could find a reason for the tear in the seat beltFor one thing I can assure you my dogs do not chew on anything and I am always with them so I would notice if they didFor another thing the place that was damaged is encased behind the wall of the car so the dogs do not have access to itIf I thought it was my dog I can assure you I would not request Honda to fix it, that would be my responsibilityI suspect that they never installed a new seat belt in the first placeAlso the service manager promised he would call me after he contacted Honda corporate but he never returned my callIt is a safety issue and I don't know or have any explanation for why this happened other than they did not repair it properly in the first place
