Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/10/13) */
On 7/06/*** brought sea doo in for programming tetherDone and picked up same day
On 7/10/*** brought unit back in and was having trouble with the tether or key readingWe checked over and found unit needed new reader post
installed*** gave go ahead to replaceInstalled dess post and started unitAt this time THE UNIT DID A LEAN RUN AWAY, WHICH MEANS THE MOTOR WAS RUNNING SO LEAN THE UNIT REVS UP IN RPM TO MAX RPM AND WOULD NOT SHUT DOWNTHIS HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS A EXTREME LEAN CONDITIONAt this time Dave contacted customer and told him carbs needed to be cleaned to fix lean run condition*** ok repairs with DaveRemoved carbs and found fuel pump check valve cracked causing lean run condition, Also at this time found all the gaskets for air box missingOrdered missing gaskets and also found exhaust resonator was melted and leaking exhaust into hullSomeone, other than our shop, tried to repair with DUCT TAPEHad to make PVC pipe to replace resonator because part was NLA from BRPThis was done over and above original estimate along with missing gasketsThis was an additional 3hrs of work that I did not charge customer
On 7/29/customer picked up his other watercraft and we let him use one of our trailers at no chargeAnother 1/2hr labor to switch at no charge
We then ran unit after repairs and unit ran on the rich sideSpoke with customer about rich running issues and he then informed us that unit had double oil mixture in unit? *** then wanted oil pump function verified which we did at no chargeDustin the service tech also found Amplifier to be faulty and also NLA from BRPAmplifier controls fuel mixture and timingBecause part was NLA we tried to get jetting leaner by changing spring and inlet needle combinationsDustin test drove unit and removed carbs another times trying to get unit to run betterThis was a additional 6hrs NOT CHARGED TO CUSTOMERFrom test driving the unit found trim INOPChecked over and found blown fuse, replaced trim fuse at no charge(labor)Customer paid for fuse onlyAt this time customer wanted unit back because it had been here for over a monthI can understand thatThis is our busy time of the year when we are booked out about weeksEach time we reordered parts it would normally take weeks to get back inCustomer picked up on 8/18/and said he would try it outHe called that afternoon and spoke with DaveHe stated the unit would barely run and had taken on waterBrought back the next day, 8/19/At this time we found leaking water from exhaust manifoldWe replaced exhaust gaskets and ran and tested unit againI told customer that unit could not be fixed without replacing Amplifier box which is NLA*** then got upset and said he shouldn't have to pay anymore because he had already spent $and we still didn't fix the problemI told *** that I would make this current repair order go away and look into previous repair orders as this was the first time I, Gary, had gotten involved*** misunderstood and thought I would make previous repair order go awayOnce a Repair Order is cashiered, I cannot go back in and make adjustments so I took care of the current repair order as a good faith effort to resolve the issueThat included gaskets at $and more hours of labor at $an hour
It was clear after talking to Dustin and Dave that this unit had been repaired several times before by a noncertified techThe motor had been changed at some point and not properly installed, from missing carb gaskets to duct tape sealing the exhaust and leaking exhaust manifoldDustin had over hours into this unit that I did not charge the customer for
The bill coming in over estimate was additional parts needed to repair, not extra labor chargedThe original estimate was for hrs labor and that's all *** paid for
/16/Spoke with *** and he wanted his money back because he claimed we had made unit run worse than when he dropped it offHe claimed unit ran just fine before we touched it and all we did was lie and make up bogus chargesI have over years experience, Dustin has over years and both of use are BRP certified techs
Each time I attempted to offer a solution, *** talked over meWhat he describes as rudeness was frustrationWhen he declined my offer to fix the unit, it was clear that he had no intention of working with me on the issueWhen I explained that I was not going to refund the full amount to him, he said he wanted to take it to someone who knows what they are doingI did tell him that, if he knew of a shop/tech with more
experience and better certification that he should do that as it was obvious that Moritz, my tech, and myself are not a good fit to do business together
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/10/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not believe this statement is accurate or trueI was never aware or told of the motor was improperly installed or having duct tape, nor did I see thisThe only work I did to this machine was put new spark plugs in after I got it back from Mortiz the last time, which they said they did and charged us for, but it appeared the spark plugs were never changedAlso after reading their statement I contacted the previous owner who I purchased this sea doo wave runner gsx from, said Moritz was the only place he took the machine for repairs which was also for the dess post/ignition and they never properly fixed itHe also stated the person who owned the machine before him also took the machine to Moritz numerous times for this issue and it was never fixed properlyNow to the best of my knowledge Moritz knowingly knew they could not fix this machine for what I brought it it for yet charged me for unneeded and unnecessary workThe issue/ignition problem which I originally brought the machine in for still does not work correctly and they admitted to me that the part is no longer in stockThe one and only thing I give Moritz credit for fixing is the resonator box, but I would have never had any of these other items moritz brought up that needed to be be fixed had I known the original issue couldn't be fixedMoritz made it clear they could not fix the machineEvery time moritz attempted to fix this machine something else would happen and problems accumulated
Final Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2015/11/02) */

Response to 10/WEB Revdex.com RECEIVED CONSUMER RESPONSE
From the duct tape on the exhaust muffler crossover hose where it attaches to the resonator to the missing intake/carb gaskets, it was apparent that the motor was improperly installedMoritz would not use duct tape for any kind of fix
Spark plugs had to be installed before performing the repairsThe plugs would not appear new as the unit had to be test driven at least six times because the machine was running extremely rich
MrKautzman stated that the two previous owners of this unit had brought it to Moritz for serviceThe results of our service history research, by the vin/serial number and customer name, found that the unit had been purchased in Bemidji MNIt was not serviced by MoritzMoritz records show no previous work history under this name or unit serial numberAll service work and parts purchased would be recorded in our systemThe only service history we could find was done at Bemidji, MN and Seaberg Yamaha in Detroit Lakes, MN
The amplifier box was only used in early release GSX LTDsThe latest that part was available was When the unit was brought in, we ordered the SeaDoo GSX Limited Supplement Manual for that covers the testing procedures for the amplifier boxThere was no unnecessary or unneeded work performed on this unitThe only proper way to fix the machine was to repair all of the issuesJust repairing the amplifier box would not have done any goodThe reason that it had a runaway was from the carb issues (fuel pump diaphragm was cracked)It is a snowball effectIf your fuel pump goes out and you are out of gas, you won't fix the issue just by adding gas
Basically, all that is needed to repair the unit is a good used amplifier and/or re-jetting of the unitAs I told him previously I was willing to either find the part and fix it or re-jet the unit at no charge to himHis reply was "Why would I do that now, its FallI just want my money back."
My offer still stands
