I am responding back with regards to the work provided by Morris Glass Co. We first went out and measured for the 2 insulated window units per customers request. We quoted customer for the replacement of said units which totaled $399.17. The customer then told us that 1 of the windows...
was still under warranty and we gladly changed the price on the quote to $229.98. If we break that price down the 1 window was $52.64, tax $4.34, labor$173.00 ($125.00 for the 1st window and $48.00 for each addtl window we install wether it is warranty or not.) and we did not charge for the other window still under warranty. All of out insulated units come with a 10 year warranty against seal failure from the manufacturer. In a letter he wrote to us he made the statement,"what prevents your company from installing defective windows in orderto benefit from the rewards of labor charges". A statement such as this is absolutely rediculous. Morris Glass is charged for the new replacement window until we send them back the defective one we remove from the customers home/business. I fail to see how we would benefit in any way. The warranty for insulated units has not changed by our company in the last 20 years. In fact, the customers that have had to get warranty work done are very please by the simple fact that they do not have to do any of the leg-work to get the replacement units under warranty. Morris Glass is able to get any warranty windows replaced rather quickly as we receive productsfrom that manufacturer on a daily basis. I am also enclosing a copy of the letter that was received in the mail along with the check for the work we did for you information. The other glass companies in and around our area have the same warranty for insulated windows as we do because they use the same manufacturer as we do and in all honesty have a pretty good relationship with the other glass companies as we do refer business to each other if we are not able to get to a customer quickly and vise versa. We do not charge for ALL warranty work. Autoglass, Shower doors and storefronts have a different warranty by Morris Glass. So making the statement that we charge for all warranty work is completely false. I am sorry that the customer feels that he has been cheated or we have been deceptive.
