Review: I initially contact the Hospital Billing Dept. in 2013 or early 2014 to dispute the invoices sent to me that totaled $1000: a $500 deductible assessed against my account and an additional $500 deductible for my newborn's account. I explained that this was in error and that my policy covered a child under the mother's deductible for the first thirty (30) days of life. Rather than follow up with the insurance carrier, the Hospital simply continued to send me invoices. I paid one deductible in the amount of $500. This was incorrectly credited toward the wrong account. I called the billing department no less than five times to simply have this payment transferred from one account to the other. This simple process took months and hours of my time. After this was finally completed (more than a year after the birth of my son), I provided the Hospital with an explanation of benefits ("EOB") showing no amount was owed for the newborn. The Hospital erroneously accepted what I have since learned was a "duplicate" EOB. This duplicate was created only because the Hospital incorrectly sent the same claim to my insurance carrier multiple times. I was then informed by a supervisor in the billing department that the entire matter was taken care of and that I was all set. At least four or five months passed and I then received another billing statement, with no explanation. Unfortunately, I had discarded all of my records by this time as a result of the confirmation that the matter was resolved. I spoke with another supervisor on March 16th and explained the situation. In spite of the detailed information I provided, she again came back with incorrect information from my insurance carrier. Since that time, I have been in touch with my insurance carrier, who has now denied my claim due solely to the amount of time that has elapsed. My request to write off the time by the Hospital was denied by the supervisor and my letters requesting the same have gone unanswered.Desired Settlement: I want the Hospital to absorb the $500 fee that remains outstanding.
