My husband and I contacted this business owner in September about building a table with benches/chairs, a hutch, and a bar with a wine rack for our dining room in our new homeMy sister had purchased a table and chairs from him in the past and had been pleased, though she warned he is incredibly slow and does not keep his word on delivery dateWe liked the photos of his work and felt his pricing was fair and within our budget, so we decided to move forwardHe also assured us that he offered a lifetime guarantee and is always happy to make any needed repairs or tweaks, and that if we weren't happy with anything then he would make it rightHe was very personable and friendly, and we felt ok with working with him even though we knew things might not happen quickly He delivered the items a month lateEven though we sort of expected this, it was frustrating that we asked to have them before the Christmas holidays and he promised over and over it's "No problem." Those are his two favorite words Within a week, the boards on the table had separated so much that I could stick my hand between themThe boards on the benches moved so much they were no longer flat/smooth for sitting uponWe sent him photos of this and a few other repairs we discovered would be needed"No problem." We had to text him repeatedly to get confirmation on when he could come out to make the repairs before a birthday party we had planned for our sonIt took a month from the initial delivery, and when he showed up he only came prepared to trade out the table top and benchesHe said he'd have to deal with the other repairs laterI was pretty annoyed that after a month of initial delivery (and us paying in full) that he didn't come prepared to deal with everything, but I know life happens and I try to be patient in these instances Between that date in early February and late April, we contacted him about every two weeks to inquire when he intended to finish making the repairs that he kept saying were "No problem." He offered one excuse after another about why he hadn't had time to deal with itWe continued to be friendly and patient When we finally got him to agree to come back out in late April, he didn't show up on time on the day he said he'd be thereI called and texted 2-times throughout the day and he finally replied hours after he was supposed to be there to tell me he hadn't finished making the needed items and would come the next day When he finally arrived the next day (again, several hours late - he is never there at the time he says), he did not bring everything he needed to complete the workI was truly baffled he didn't want to just be done with everythingI told him very politely that this had dragged out long enough, and that we absolutely have to have him back within weeks to finish so that we can all move on and be done with this project before summer (keeping in mind it was supposed to be done before the prior Christmas) After he left, we discovered that 2-things he did that day to "repair" the furniture actually made it worseThere are screws sticking out from chairs that can easily cut someone, he used stain that doesn't match the original stain, and he filled in a board that separated with some sort of white glue that looks horrible (that one I pointed out when he was here and he told me it would dry and blend inI'm confident he knew he was lying to me.) He promised he would be back the next weekWhen we never heard from him, we began texting and calling againHe finally replied with a date he would returnI texted the night before to confirm and reminded him of the items still needed - because he had been out twice to make repairs and either forgot or didn't have time (his words) to bring everything needed, and I was trying to be helpful He became very rude with me and made a comment asking me if I planned to hold his hand, tooMy husband replied that there was no reason to be rude and unprofessional and that I was just trying to help be sure we're all on the same page about the repairs that needed to be completed the next day He never repliedHe never showed up My husband notified him we intended to file a dispute with the credit card we used to make payment and seek a partial refund for the incomplete workWe offered him a week to issue the refund directlyHe replied several days later that all he was willing to do was to rebuild the needed itemsWe expressed we'd been giving him the opportunity to do so for five months and we were unwilling to believe he would actually do it this time We ultimately filed a dispute through PayPal and got back a third of what we paidWe felt this was reasonable because we did have some items in our home from him and it seemed unfair to expect a full refundWe wanted a partial refund so that we can pay someone to finish the work he did not finishWe received it and are moving on

My husband and I contacted this business owner in September 2014 about building a table with benches/chairs, a hutch, and a bar with a wine rack for our dining room in our new home. My sister had purchased a table and chairs from him in the past and had been pleased, though she warned he is incredibly slow and does not keep his word on delivery date. We liked the photos of his work and felt his pricing was fair and within our budget, so we decided to move forward. He also assured us that he offered a lifetime guarantee and is always happy to make any needed repairs or tweaks, and that if we weren't happy with anything then he would make it right. He was very personable and friendly, and we felt ok with working with him even though we knew things might not happen quickly.

He delivered the items a month late. Even though we sort of expected this, it was frustrating that we asked to have them before the Christmas holidays and he promised over and over it's "No problem." Those are his two favorite words.

Within a week, the boards on the table had separated so much that I could stick my hand between them. The boards on the benches moved so much they were no longer flat/smooth for sitting upon. We sent him photos of this and a few other repairs we discovered would be needed. "No problem."

We had to text him repeatedly to get confirmation on when he could come out to make the repairs before a birthday party we had planned for our son. It took a month from the initial delivery, and when he showed up he only came prepared to trade out the table top and benches. He said he'd have to deal with the other repairs later. I was pretty annoyed that after a month of initial delivery (and us paying in full) that he didn't come prepared to deal with everything, but I know life happens and I try to be patient in these instances.

Between that date in early February and late April, we contacted him about every two weeks to inquire when he intended to finish making the repairs that he kept saying were "No problem." He offered one excuse after another about why he hadn't had time to deal with it. We continued to be friendly and patient.

When we finally got him to agree to come back out in late April, he didn't show up on time on the day he said he'd be there. I called and texted 2-3 times throughout the day and he finally replied 6 hours after he was supposed to be there to tell me he hadn't finished making the needed items and would come the next day.

When he finally arrived the next day (again, several hours late - he is never there at the time he says), he did not bring everything he needed to complete the work. I was truly baffled he didn't want to just be done with everything. I told him very politely that this had dragged out long enough, and that we absolutely have to have him back within 2 weeks to finish so that we can all move on and be done with this project before summer (keeping in mind it was supposed to be done before the prior Christmas).

After he left, we discovered that 2-3 things he did that day to "repair" the furniture actually made it worse. There are screws sticking out from chairs that can easily cut someone, he used stain that doesn't match the original stain, and he filled in a board that separated with some sort of white glue that looks horrible (that one I pointed out when he was here and he told me it would dry and blend in. I'm confident he knew he was lying to me.)

He promised he would be back the next week. When we never heard from him, we began texting and calling again. He finally replied with a date he would return. I texted the night before to confirm and reminded him of the items still needed - because he had been out twice to make repairs and either forgot or didn't have time (his words) to bring everything needed, and I was trying to be helpful.

He became very rude with me and made a comment asking me if I planned to hold his hand, too. My husband replied that there was no reason to be rude and unprofessional and that I was just trying to help be sure we're all on the same page about the repairs that needed to be completed the next day.

He never replied. He never showed up.

My husband notified him we intended to file a dispute with the credit card we used to make payment and seek a partial refund for the incomplete work. We offered him a week to issue the refund directly. He replied several days later that all he was willing to do was to rebuild the needed items. We expressed we'd been giving him the opportunity to do so for five months and we were unwilling to believe he would actually do it this time.

We ultimately filed a dispute through PayPal and got back a third of what we paid. We felt this was reasonable because we did have some items in our home from him and it seemed unfair to expect a full refund. We wanted a partial refund so that we can pay someone to finish the work he did not finish. We received it and are moving on.
