Review: With an appalling lack of judgment and training, a Mosquito Squad (MS) worker in a hooded hazmat suit sprayed my yard with pesticides, but lied to me in person that he had not yet begun, saying he would return later. While waiting, I proceeded to do an hour and a half of yardwork, unknowingly exposing bare arms, hands and lungs to foliage freshly sprayed with Cyfluthrin and Bifen, resulting in trip to emergency room later in day with shortness of breath and flaking skin. SEQUENCE OF EVENTS: MS was scheduled to spray my yard, as well as neighbors on both sides, on Wed., Aug. 28, but rain forced rescheduling till next day. About 9:45 a.m., I returned from taking daughter to school to find MS truck and two workers in front of my house. Realizing I had forgotten to shut windows and make sure cat was indoors (as instructed by MS), I asked workers how long they had been there. They said 5 minutes, and assured me I had time to close windows and find cat. When I could not immediately find cat, they offered to do another house on street first. They circled back in truck twice over next 15 minutes to see if I had found cat, both times assuring me it was no problem for them to come back later. I then proceeded to work in yard, without gloves, protective clothing, or mask, cleaning up from rainstorm, not knowing that foliage was already treated. While working, rear neighbor came up to ask me what worker in hazmat suit had sprayed that morning near his tomato plants. I immediately called MS office, and owner [redacted] called back an hour later admitting workers had treated yard, but lied to me in fear I would be upset they sprayed with house windows open and cat outside. She also confirmed that my skin tingling and pkliness was from "the product." When I experienced shortness of breath an hour later, I went to [redacted] Emergency Room. ER doctor called MS to learn what chemicals had been used, but office staff refused to give out [redacted]'s cell phone number. MD then called Poison Control for treatment advice. I was discharged home.Desired Settlement: I would like a written apology on MS letterhead, including date of spraying, chemicals used, and that workers used poor judgment in failing to warn me and failing to leave receipt for work (as they did with neighbor). I request acknowledgement that Cyfluthrin can cause skin tingling and flaking. I want MS to assure that this horrible experience NEVER happens to another customer by retraining workers and making such behavior a fireable offense in future. MS should also donate $$ to [redacted] Emergency Room.

The technician used a lack of judgement that had direct negative effects on our customer. This all became apparent that day . The incident was taken very seriously by the management/owner. Actions have been taken to prevent any such incident again. Training and policies are altered as a result. Regrettably, the customer's response and requests are valid. We are responding to her requests.
