"">Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Mr*** complaint.He first came to my attention when my staff informed me that he was in the habit of leaving his computer set up on a table while he left for long periods of timeThis is against our policy and I asked him to not do this anymoreI later learned that he continued to do so and only respected the policy after I asked him a second time.About two months ago we started getting copyright violation notices from our Internet Service Provider for illegally downloaded moviesBy checking our server logs I was able to determine the MAC address for the device responsibleI set our router to block this device by MAC address.On the day in question, I did ask the complainant to not invite people in who are not customers -- this also has been an ongoing issue with his use of our cafe -- and while I was talking to him I noticed a USB device plugged into his computer with an antenna on itI asked about it and he said he needed it because his computer had stopped being able to connect to our networkI asked him if he ever downloaded movies and he said he didn't but he also said he watched movies using it so I was unclear what distinction he was makingPerhaps the difference between downloading and streamingIn wither case, the violation is the same if it is copyrighted materialI realized at that moment that he was using the USB device to bypass the router restriction so I asked him to leaveHe got upset and came up to the counter and harassed me for awhile before finally leavingFor some reason he does not believe I am the owner.Since then, we have stopped receiving copyright complaints from our ISP and I confident, based on that and from looking at our router logs that he was, indeed, the person responsible.We do not permit illegal use of our space or our internet networkIf any copyright owners pursue legal action based on his use of our network I will forward his contact information.He will not be permitted back in our cafe or on our property for any reason, nor is he allowed to use our internet network.Again, thank you for letting me respond to this complaintPlease let me know if you need any further information.*** ***Mother Fool's, IncWilliamson St.Madison, WI
